This is the HP solution for the problem

HP LaserJet, Color LaserJet and LaserJet MFP Products - Print driver Client / Server Connections in a mixed 32-bit and 64-bit environment ISSUE: 32-bit clients are not able to connect to shared Universal Print drivers or discrete drivers on a 64-bit print server or vice-versa. These scenarios may involve Server 2003/Server 2008 64-bit print servers with Windows XP, Vista, 7 32-bit clients. It is also possible that the server editions could be 32-bit versions with 64-bit clients. SOLUTION:

  1. The administrator will need to download the 64-bit AND 32-bt version of the print driver from www.hp.com . If the server involved is a 64-bit version, the 64-bit version of the print driver will need to be installed and mapped to the printer via TCP/IP. Ensure that the print driver has been shared on the network by going to the print driver properties and enabling Share this printer within the Sharing tab. I installed the printer and - c02030528.gif

Ensure that communication has been established and that a driver test page can be printed from the 64-bit server. Once functionality has been confirmed from the 64-bit server, proceed to the next step.

  2. Currently, 64-bit clients will be able to connect to the shared 64-bit print driver that has been installed on the 64-bit server as the architecture currently matches. However, if 32-bit clients wish to map to the shared 64-bit print driver on the 64-bit server, the 32-bit version of the same driver will need to be installed within the current 64-bit driver.
This process can be done by navigating to the printer properties of the 64-bit driver on the 64-bit server, clicking the Sharing tab and clicking the Additional Drivers button. c02030529.gif

  3. Once the administrator clicks on the Additional Drivers button, the next screen will allow the administrator to load the 32-bit drivers by placing a checkmark in the x86 button and clicking the OK
  4. Once the administrator clicks the OK button, a print driver window will pop-up asking for the 32-bit driver components. Again, the administrator will need to download, and extract the 32-bit version of the print driver on the 64-bit server. Once the window below comes up, the administrator will need to navigate to the 32-bit driver components and select the appropriate driver .inf file.
For example, the UPD .inf file would be the first fiI installed the printer and - c02030531.gift and be named hpcuXXXc.inf. c02030531.gif

Once the appropriate .inf file is selected, the 32-bit driver components will be installed within the 64-bit driver on the 64-bit server. This can be verified as both x86 (32-Bit) and x64 (64-Bit) boxes will now be checked and show the status as installed by clicking the Additional Drivers button compared to the screenshot in Step 3 above.

  5. Now that 64-Bit and 32-Bit drivers have been loaded onto the 64-Bit server, 32-Bit and 64-Bit clients can now navigate to the shared print driver on the 64-Bit server, by manually navigating to the shared print driver on the 64-Bit server from the client machine. Typically the path is \\servername\sharedprintername.

  6. Once the client maps to the shared print driver, printing should work successfully.

For problems or errors that continue to occur after completing the aforementioned process, ensure that the latest version of the print drivers are being used www.hp.com . If there are problems with older discrete drivers, it is recommended to use the latest version of the Universal Print Driver which can be found at www.hp.com/go/upd .

I need help with installing Windows XP x64 Edition on my computer. My computer currently runs Similar windows but with 32- bits, can you please tell me how to go about this. I have also backup my personal...

To install the X64bit versions XP for your PC, your hardward eg. Processor & Mainboard specifications must support the X64bit requirements. The installation is similar in installing the X86bit(32bit) XP versions. You have to do a search for the X64bits drivers first before repartitioning, reformatting your HDD & do a clean installation for the X64bit XP versions.

Hope it helps.

I need a 64 bit Canon D780 printer driver...where can I download? I went to canon, but their drive is only a 32 bit

Okay so this may not help you now, but I just got a hand me down D780. After much frustration and research here's the solution that I was able to work with. It isn't perfect; but it's something....

So here are the steps for network shared installation; assuming your D780 is installed on an old xp desktop and you're using a Win-7 laptop. If you're using the printer directly on your Win-7 machine, just use the local printer installation after the XP mode has been installed.

1) You'll have to install WinXP mode on Win-7 using the steps listed on this link. If you have a genuine Win-7 copy installed, this download and installation is free, courtesy Microsoft.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/features/windows-xp-mode

2) After installation, you'll have to change network settings for your virtual pc. This step is necessary if you want to be on the same home network and want to see the printer! Never mind if you don't understand this logic. Just follow the steps and you'll do just fine. To change the network settings in vPC: click Tools; click Settings; select Network from left; then for Adapter 1 choose the actual network adapter connected to your router (simply put: select the wireless adapter or wired adapter you're using to connect to your actual router or home network. You can find that from Change Adapter Settings in Network and Sharing.) Click Ok.

3) Now add the printer as local or networked following your usual XP steps. You should be able to see the printer. If not, open a command prompt window, check your ip to make sure you're on same network. If not, or if you don't know how to do that, just type in ipconfig /release enter and then ipconfig /renew enter. Try to connect to the shared printer by pinging the ip of the host computer. If the ping works, you should be able to see the printer then.

Connect printer and use in XP mode. Not the best solution, I know. But it's free and at least lets you print from your laptop, given the circumstances.

Network x86 driver support on Vista 64 bit OS (Samsung Ml-2510)

That's right. You'll have to install the XP driver on an XP PC, and share it to the other XP machines that way, or Install the driver on each PC individually -you can't share a Vista driver with XP PC's.

How to install hp laserjet p1505n network printer in windows 98

I can not find a win 98 driver for your printer on the HP website. DO yu have the instalation disk that was writen for win 98? If not try installing the printer through  the control panel. Either printers/fax or through install new hardware. The first being the preference. Some of the win OSs have printr drivers already installed.
If this does not work out, then the printer has no drivr available for that version of windows and you ewither have to upgrade to Xp or use a different printer which has a driver for win 98.
