I have the Maytag Atlantis Top Load Washer - it is about 4 1/2 years old. It is starting to make a squeeking noise during the rinse cycle on the "Regular" wash mode, seems mostly on heavy loads. What could this be & how do I fix it?
Anyone know how to open up the top or gain access into Maytag top Loader washers (Bravos MVWB750WQ)
Mine the same concern, I took it apart and found the thermo fuse in the motor had a bad terminal. Maytag parts man said you must get a new motor even though the fuse has a part # on it and is easy to change. I made temporary repairs until I find a fuse from a used parts machine. Scott

I have same problem with a Maytag Atlantis MAV7501EWW - this was happening for approx 2 weeks. Purchased in Feb 2004. Then the washer died yesterday. Made a buzzing sound when I started the cycle but nothing happened, then I smelled something. Unplugged quickly, but outlet was not the problem. Something within the machine must have blown a fuse or something.
When I replugged in today, turned on still heard buzzing sound. Unplugged again.
Any suggestions on troubleshooting the problem?

Just had the repair man out to look at it (Maytag Atlantis MAV8551AWW). The bottom seal is going bad on the transmission. There is an extended warranty on machine by Maytag on the transmission for years 3-10 covering parts only. The noise at the end of the spin cycle is the brake going bad. Overall cost for repair $230. By the way, you can no longer get this machine and two years ago Whirlpool bought out Maytag, so if you get an 2008 model you are insured to not have this same transmission type.
