The same thing happened with my dsc-w220. while i was on chat to get help i tried inserting and removing the usb connector cable to the camera. i did it a 5 or 6 times. it works now.
i think i had the same problem, if u press the home button and then press shooting then hit the flash button on the right hand side it should change the mode.
YOU MUST USE YOUR 'WIZARD" TO INSTALL THE CAMERA OR USE THE CD THAT CAME WITH THE CAMERA TO INSTALL THE SOFTWARE...YOUR COMPUTER IS NOT RECOGNIZING YOUR CAMERA AND WONT ACCEPT THE PICTURES WITH OUT A OPERATING PROGRAM....
