SOURCE: tv still turning off blinking three times after hori ic replaced

Three blinks is short protection.

97% of the time it means one or more of the 2.2 ohm blue resistors around the two convergence IC's is OPEN.

There should be 8 or 10 of them: light blue in color and will have 2.2 printed on them ------look for any that are slightly discolored or white in the middle.

What happens here is if one opens====one of the two convergence chips got it----they can be tested in place like testing a fuse===no reading across any of them and it is gone-----set detects no voltage reaching the chips(Usually STK-392-110---black in color and on metal heat sinks with fins side by side.)

DO NOT JUST REPLACE THE RESISTOR IF YOU FIND ONE BAD=ONE OF THE CHIPS GOT IT.

I have start to finish, step by step instructions showing what is needed and the best way to replace the chips etc.

FIRST: LOOK TO SEE IF any OF THE RESISTORS ARE GONE. (BAD)

If you want the instructions let me know and I will post them here for you.

Regards, SD TECH

FYI= Whoever told you to replace the output transistor does clearly not know these sets very well as it will produce a 5 blink error code.

Testimonial: "I already replaced all of the resistors with new ones. I have new convergence ic's. Still comes on for 2 seconds then shuts off.Any other suggestions?"

SOURCE: PT-53WX53G still shutting off-3 blinks

have you checked the 2.2 ohm 2watt resistors? If the led blinks three times the resistors will almost always have at least one that will be blown and need replacement.

I need a lamp for a Pt-47WX53G set with an AP825 chassis. Can someone give me the correct part number?

This is a rear projection TV set. Therefore it has three CRT's in it and not a lamp or bulb like you see in a DLP tv. If tv isn't turning on it is most likely a convergence or power supply issue.

If you think you need a CRT then the part number is on the side of the CRT at the top. These are not easy to replace and are quite dangerous to handle if you have no experience.

I would not recommend any novice to attempt a CRT replacement.

Panasonic PT-47WX54J - There are colors running down the middle of the screen while the rest is black. I cannot access a menu to make any changes.

Let me ask you an important question to resolve what I think your problem is:

Do you see a narrow band of light from top to bottom but no picture?

Does it take it a minute or so and is just to the right of center on the screen? It can be towards the far right---Is this what you are dealing with?

Respond by making a comment here or if you repost the question mark it in the title: ATTENTION SD TECH.

IF you have the problem I suspect you do it is a bad cap and I can tell you exactly how to get at it and replace it.

I am here to help.

SD Tech I replaced both convergence chips with two news one. Now with TV on table when I turn it on the projection lights do not come on and the TV shuts down in a few seconds. jaybirdwv

there is still a component problem in the t.v. send it back to the tech. if the convergence chips have failed again, the power supply circuit should be checked.

Panasonic PT-53wx53g will not turn on

Sorry to disagree with the previous hinter, 3 FLASHES is a convergence problem for your model set. This data is direct from the Panasonic manual.

5 flashes is a DG board problem. Unlikely the manual is wrong on their website... (Never hurts to change the convergence ICs anyway) However, the board can only be rebuilt by Panasonic at the Elgin, Illinois plant. You might be able to find a board at a distributor, but anyway you look at it the thing's pretty expensive.

Look on the "A" board for corrosion damage or on the separate plug-in DG board. I've seen moisture condense off the CRT chassis ( or a possible CRT leak) and drip directly on the DG board flatpacks.

Power comes on then goes back off.

More than likely, the two convergence IC's have to be replaced.
