normally the door catch on washing machines have a switch attached to it ,if the door is not closed properly then the switch is not operated ,stopping the door lock light coming on
try slamming the door shut or check door catch for damage or hold /push and (hold )door shut to see if lock light comes on, if it does then the problem is door catch, adjustment or replacement only suggestions .good luck
There
is an auxiliary switch in the door lock and switch assembly that
is activated at the end of the wash cycle for the machine to advance to
the spin cycle.
This is a safety feature to prevent the door from opening during the
spin cycle and the machine will not spin unless the switch is activated.
The machine works except advancing to the spin cycle and this signifies
that the auxiliary switch cannot be activated and the door lock and
switch assembly is faulty. Replaced the door lock and switch assembly
(part #131763202) to address the issue. Click on the link below for the complete and detailed procedure.
Disconnect power then open the door and remove the spring-hoop assembly that secures the door gasket. Peel off the part of the door gasket near the door lock and switch assembly. Remove the screws securing the door lock and switch assembly to the front panel then pull the door lock and switch assembly out. Transfer the wiresto the new door lock and switch assembly then install into place. Put the door gasket back and secure it with the spring-hoop assembly. Click on the link below for the detailed procedure.
I have the same problem with my Gallery. I can not open it at all. I have tried unpluging it and putting it through another cycle to see if it will open. No such luck. Any suggestions?
I would say your door lock is faulty, much more common than timers. Unfortunately, you need to break the door catch to open door. If you take off the top, then use a flat head screwdriver (oh, and turn power off), and pry at door switch. Replace the door catch (part#131763310) and the door lock assembly (131763202) and that should fix your problem.
Thank you - that solved the problem!
