To select black ink only mode and conserve color ink when printing only text documents, please do the following:
In Windows 98/ME/2000:
1) Go to START, SETTINGS, PRINTERS.
2) RIGHT CLICK on your Epson printer name; left click on PROPERTIES. (PRINTING PREFERENCES in Windows 2000.)
3) Go to the MAIN tab. Click the ADVANCED button in bottom right corner.
4) In ADVANCED settings, place a check beside GRAYSCALE.
5) Click APPLY then OK.
In Windows XP:
1) Go to START, CONTROL PANEL, PRINTERS AND OTHER HARDWARE or PRINTERS AND FAXES. (Select VIEW INSTALLED PRINTERS under PRINTER TASKS if no printers appear.)
2) RIGHT CLICK on your Epson printer name; left click PRINTING PREFERENCES.
3) On the MAIN tab, click the ADVANCED button in bottom right corner.
4) Place a check beside GRAYSCALE.
5) Click OK.
Remember to repeat these instructions and remove the check from GRAYSCALE when printing photos or color images.
