Hi.

What you call 'password' is the network key that has been set for your local network.

It is a problem with the capital and with special characters. The problem depends both on the network key used and on Kindle's.

First :ensure that you are using the right network key for this router. If a different computer works with this key on same router, then it is the right one.

Second: try the following. It is a solution from this site. The workaround will get rid of the capital problem with Kindle. I quote:

"Turn on kindly, bring up Wi-fi networks, tap in the network key from the label on the bottom of the router.
HERE is the trick. When you press the Aa (large capital/small capital AA key, to the right of the space bar, it actually does not go to uppercase when typing in key, you have to use the shift arrow, (bottom left hand corner of keypad).
Type in the key..., move to submit, it should connect fine".

Third: If that does not work, then the network key may include characters not supported by kindle. If possible access the router using a LAN cable, and set the router to a key made only by ciphers with no letter, and set the new key on kindle, PC etc. to connect.

Regards.

Ginko.

    Hi.

If this is your home network, then the network key (it is not a proper password) is given to you by the network provider. The key it is often written on a sticker placed on the router, or was sent to you by mail.

The key is stored into the router. If a different computer connects to the same router using the same key, then the key used in computer settings is likely correct.

If you are using a public network, like at school or in a cafe, some of the network operators will know the key.

I have no idea what my Wi-Fi password is, so can't activate the Kindle. This is my 4th Kindle; I bought the others with no help, but have no record of Wi-fi password.

The wifi password is the password installed in the router that allows any and all wireless devices to connect to your wireless network. Unless this Kindle is the only wireless device you have, then you probably know the password, since it was used on all the other devices as well. Even if you don't know it, you may have it. If the router was from the ISP, and you didn't change anything, the wifi password may be written on the base of the router. If you DID change the password and forgot it, as long as you can access the router setup,. you can go in and create a new wifi password.

My kindle touch wont connect to my wi fi keeps saying incorrect password when i have not changed anything

Can you connect other devices to your wifi using the same password?
If so, it is the Kindle at fault.
Go to your wifi connections in Settings and remove your connection (I think it may say "forget").
Turn off your Kindle by holding down the power button for a full 30 seconds.
Restart your Kindle and connect to wifi, re-entering the password on the back of your router.

Wont register

Guessing you can connect to wifi

If you bought it on your Amazon account it is already registered.

If you are registering for the first time then you just use your normal email and password you use for Amazon every day.

If you have bought a second hand Kindle then the previous owner needs to de-register it. If they have not done it then you may need to log into the amazon site on your pc, call their help desk and give them the FIre serial number. They should be able to force a re-set assuming it has not been lost/stolen, in which case they may have locked it and you have a paperweight :(

I can't get my new Kindle to accept any of the numbers I can find on my Livebox. Which string of numbers does it want, please?!

So livebox is some sort of internet provider? Is it WiFi? If so then the kindle would connect just like any other wifi device like a laptop or smartphone. You need the SSID of the wifi device and the password.

My kindle will not connect to a wireless network

first you need to have a wifi network and have to connect it to the internet. Then on your eouter setting you set up a password. After that you go into the kindle's setting look for your wifi acces point name and type the password you create on the router and it should work
