DMR-EH75V DVD Recorder

Hi mjs8,

Did the panasonic DMR-EH75V DVD recorder/VCR/HDD just stop recognizing DVD's? Mine was working well until last night, then no DVD anything. It just makes 6 noises, one low pitch, 4 higher pitched, then one more low pitch. No read comes up on the display. Can't read the disc on the TV screen.

If this is what yours did, I'll send it in for repair and hope they can fix it.

Thanks,

ekimt

Drive makes exact same series of sounds. Opened it to see if there was an obstruction. Drive is clean, as is the optical pickup. Things move freely. The optical pickup just smacks against the central hub (which spins the disc). That's the series of noises you hear. Any solution short of repair?

How did you get yours repaired?

Ekimt,

Yes, it would not recognize any type of disc. The disc icon was always present on the display even though no disc was inserted. Also, mine went out while recording from HDD to DVD. Panasonic had mine repaired in two business days and it' s working great.

How do I stop my Panasonic DMR-EH75V DVD Recorder from automatically turnig itself off after 75 seconds?

It could be overheating.. Is it fairly consistent at 75 seconds? To test put the unit in the fridge for 30 minutes then quickly connect it up and test. If it is longer then 75 seconds then something is getting to hot. I've put hard drives (especially laptop ones) in the freezer if I need to copy off data but it clicks/stops working at room temp.

Can my Analog reciver Panasonic DMR-EH 75 v be converted to a digital reciever

I bought a set-top converter box from Dish Network, which will operate with the DMR-EH75V through the remote control cable that was provided with the recorder. It tunes in all the available digital channels and uses the RCA A/V cables to connect to IN1 on the back of the recorder. TVGOS is now provided through channel 2.1 (CBS) in our area and it also provides the time signal that keeps the recorder's clock updated. NOTE: ONLY the Dish Network boxes work with these functions. I've had occasional issues with the box after some period - a few weeks - it needs to be rebooted or reset to manual and then back to automatic (which causes it to reboot anyway.) Model no is DTV PAL PLUS.

What a story ! Clean your laser eye with Rubbing Alcohol and a Q-Tip. Down updates to your Recorder from Panasonics Website., and install in your Recorder. Order your replacement parts from Panasonic but I do doubt you will need them.

Can the panasonic dmr-eh75v copy a vhs tape to DVD?

Yes, that's mostly what I use mine for. You actually copy your VHS to the Hard Drive, then copy from your hard drive to your blank DVD. I'm about 1/3 of my way through reformatting my VHS library (800+ tapes.)

DVD recording problems

I have the same unit with the same exact problem. I ended up taking it in for repair and it's now working perfectly. I paid $100 for the repair. I dropped the unit off and picked it up myself. I think $30 additional is charged for shipping and handling in US.
