Hi I have a Zanussi Electrolux ZWF 1430 W and it's coming up with an E20 error code. The machine starts off OK but after about 25 minutes the Error Code E20 starts flashing in display and the machine stops with all the water still inside. I tried pausing the machine and skiping on to the next cycle and at first the machine strats spining again but after a few minutes the machine just stops and no error messages come up. I have misplaced the manual so can't look up what the error code means and shall be grateful if you could help me rectify the problem or shed some more light on it. Many thanks Hello, I have a 'Electrolux' front loader washing washine it keeps coming up with the error 'E20' it will wash for less than a minute but its like when it comes to the spinning cycle it stops then this error messages comes up. I have lost my instruction manual for it so I cannot look this up for myself, can you help me? Its also the 6.5kg and also has on the draw that you pull out to put your washing power in there is writting that says 'ECO VALVE' unsure what this is. Regards Melinda
I'm fairly sure that this is a warning that the filter is blocked. There is a filter in the bottom right hand corner of the machine.
Now, as stated by the other user here, your problem is that you have a machine full of water and if you remove the filter, you are going to get a very wet floor. The trick here is:
Turn the power off at the mains and remove the plug from the wall. Wait ten minutes. This SHOULD power off the safety feature that allows you to open the front load door.
Presuming it does, pull the machine out if it is under a work surface and taking great care because of the weight, tip tha machine backwards until the water level is below the door (Having a chair or a box to rest the back of the machine on is a good plan here, so you don't tip it beyond about 45% and have it fall on ots back.
If the door will open, then you can now rescue any clothes and bale out the water with a cup. Once you gave got to all the water you can (Memember there is still more waqter out of sight and in the pipe going to the filter!) You can now tip the machine back a little further until the water is clear of the filter in the botton right of the machine.
NOW, you can take the filter out, remove the fliff, couns, old sock and other debris clogging it and screw it back in place. TIp the machine back on to its feet and put it back.
Now, make a note in your diary to check the filter ever 6-8 weeks or so. Once you have done a few check and cleans, you will figure out how oftem you need to clean the filter, which depends on what you wash and how much you wash it.
I had the same problem too. It was an error code caused by blocked filter. First of all you have to stop your washing machine. After that and before removing the blocked filter you have to remove the water from inside by using the small flexible tube which located next to the filter at the right bottom of the machine. Then the only think it still remains was to unscrew and clear the filter.
Firstly I would like to thank the people who have taken time to post a solution as it has helped solve the problem. Just to add a few more tips:
It seems yes indeed Error 20 is when the filter is not working therefore the machine will not spin the water out.
We had to put the machine onto its side to access the filter underneath. (Ensure the mains supply is switched off!).
Then unscrew and remove the part that has a propeller on it to remove fluff and hair that is preventing it from rotating - hence stopping the relay from clicking and enabling the drum to spin.
We also had to remove the drain pipe to clean that out. The system is supposed to be self cleaning.
My tip is do not wash cheap bath mats and dog beds as the fluff and hair is too much for the self cleaning system.
Cheers Aylabayla
Hi folks the best way to fix this and keep your floors dry it to reset the machine to generic factory settings first. this is done by setting cycle selector to off position for 5 sec then to spin for 5 sec then back to off for 5 sec then to spin the machine will reset allowing you use select the drain cycle and get the water out of the machine the run a spin cycle to clear any remaining water before you unscrew the filter and clean it.. this keeps the floors dry and sorts the problem... hop this helps ...
Yay! Found two 5c peices, a bra underwire, various sticks, a mangled necklace, lots of bits of plastic and hair!
All working now!
