My 910 is in the frozen state,it doesnt matter what i do ,reset time after time even got the black screen with white writing but sticks at retreving files,thats it,it wont connect to my computer,i bought it in the US just over a year ago never used it there only used it three times here,i did download updates from tom tom,and now i have a paper weight. As i dont have my original receipt tom tom want me to pay for the repair,i dont know what it will cost, but i hate paying for there mistakes as i thing when i downloaded updates they also included a virus for me, i am so sick of this thing the next nav tool i buy will be a map they are cheap and dont give you problems...

when you update the maps favorites are erased the favorites will also remain greyed out untill you have marked atleat one address or location as favorite

Sounds like your firmware is corrupted. I have fixed a few 910's with this same problem. If you have the Tom Tom Home program installed, try to reinstall the firmware using Tom Tom's website.
Make sure you always select to disconnect the device before unplugging it. You might have unplugged it from the PC while it was still writing data. This will certainly corrupt the firmware.
press the on button then hold the on button the press the reset button, the screen sould flash white, once this is done connect the tomtom to the pc and turn it on then update it via tomtom home
