Disconnect the printer from the computer. Insert the driver disk that came with the printer into the CD/DVD player of the computer. Follow the prompts and install the software for the Lexmark. When it is finished installing, connect the usb cable to the computer and try printing a test document.
If you do not have the disk that came with the Lexmark, go to the manufacturers website at www.lexmark.com and click on support. Then find the download software/driver option and enter your model of printer. Then follow the prompts to download the file to your computer and install it. when it is finished installing, connect the printers usb cord to the computer and try printing a test document.
Some drivers do not come with your operating system and need to be installed before your printer is connected. Once the drivers are loaded the pc will automatically recognize the printer once connected.
