My Canon EOS rebel suddenly won't take pictures in dim light. The flash pops up and blinks and blinks trying to register the image but won't ever autofocus and take the picture. The light has to be very...

To autofocus the sensor needs a fair amount of contrast (light and dark eges) to operate. If you're trying to take a photo in a dim room of a dark colored subject for instance the focus won't lock and the camera won't take the picture. Try switching your lens to manual focus and shoot that way.

Dropped Olympus SP-310 in water for 2 seconds. After drying out everything works except for a dark LCD when attempting to take a picture. Focus green light flashes and shutter will work, but no picture is...

If your device gets covered in water, act fast and rationally, and you may be able to save your device.

1. DO NOT TRY TO TURN IT ON
2. Pull out the battery.
3. Please your device and battery into a bowl of uncooked rice to absorb any moisture.
4. Please it in a warm, dry place where it can receive direct sunlight.
5. Be patient. It is recommended that you leave it in there for at least 48 hours.
6. After 48 hours, put the battery back in and power on.

LCD Display Blank

I have a sony cybershot DSC-S650, the LCD was very dark and could not see anything except if I pointed it at a bright object, everything else worked ok. I could take pictures but could barely see them in playback as well.

I took it to Sony authorised repair outlet and was told the CCD was damaged, they charged me USD $55 to repair it (in Quito, Ecuador)

The focus on the NIKON COOLPIX P80

some cameras have a choice in menu as to monitor or continous autofocus-monitor or continous means camera always seeks a focus which hurts bat life but makes focus quicker-single means camera won't focus untill button pressed halfway-make sure you are not in macro mode-flower icon on screen-this will screw up focus except for close up work-good luck-check menu settings for your type of focus

Really Dark Viewfinder

That would explain the darkness if the lens is stopped down. It would seem the aperture control is faulty on the camera body. Normally, the aperture remains open until you take the picture. It is only closed down while the shutter is open.

Very dark pictures

hi melissa,
your problem is the focusing areas, im sorry that I do not know how to turn it off, the rectangle you see is the area is focusing on, and the darkness is what the camera doesnt focus on, try reading the manual, or turning it off yourself.

Very long shutter release delay

This is weird, usually shutter delays are caused because camera is trying to focus first, it really shouldn't happen after pre-focus. do you have a manual focus mode? if you do, try it and see if it works. if you dont, I would still suspect it some kind of focusing problem, but unfortunalty i have no idea how you can fix it yourself.
