Yep, I just started having the same problem a few days ago. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and the next day it happened again. Today it just stopped working altogether. No lights no sounds....nothing. I post back if I find out what the issue is.

Same problem. On its own, panel displays Normal, 42 minutes, but doesn't actually start washing. Try to turn off, or change to another cycle, it reverts to Normal 42 minute cycle. Unplug and plug back in, after a few seconds, same thing happens. Now it is all off, no response to pushing any buttons. Seems like the on-board computer has gone haywire.

I heard my machine turn on by itself. I hit the cancel button only to have the machine turn itself on again. The panel was the only part turning on. No water was running. I tried unplugging for awhile hoping it would reset. That didn't work. As as soon as it was plugged back in It lit up again as if it were ready to wash. Although, if you pushed the start button it would not do anything. If you pushed the cancel button it would turn off but come on again by itself. So I held the start button down for a second or two and it would stay off longer than before but come back on. I held it down again and it stayed off longer again but came back on. I held it down a third time and it stayed off. So then I turned it on myself and then was able to start it normally. Last night there were storms. I think it probably received a power surge. It seems that repeatedly pressing and holding the cancel button did the trick for me. I hope it helps you.

Sounds like you have a stuck or shorted keypad. I've seen this a lot on this model. Solution is to replace the keypad. Catriver.

Machine has no lights or power.

Our Whirlpool washer is GVW9959KQ0, bought in September 2001, in September 2010 it had the problem as follow. When the panel was lite up, it was always set at "44" minute, NORMAL wash, no touch area is responsive, not even STOP or START. I could turn off the panel completely by pressing STOP and "Whitest white" in sequence quickly. When the panel was shut off, I could turn on the panel again by just pressing "STOP"; But the panel was back to "44" minute, NORMAL wash. Unplugging the power did not help (see as follow). That was the washer life for a couple weeks. We left it w/o power for 24 hours, it worked again normally just for 1 wash, and it was back again to the zombie mode; left it again for 24 hours, no luck, left it again for 24 hours, worked again for just one wash. We managed to wash 3 loads during the 2-week period (just 1 wash per time). Since the washing functionality sounds and looks working well to me, I thought that the panel might be the culprit. Finally we ordered Control Panel Assembly (Parts AP3884746, it is just the panel part where we touch for washing selections w/o electronic boards behind it) at appliancepartspros.com (cost $178 regular S

WATER SHUTS OFF WHEN STARTED 3 TIMES

F01 - There may be an internal problem with the control, attempt a Hard Reset.

Hard Reset - In some cases the control can be non-functioning or may not accept activation from the control panel. To clear and restart the control follow the these steps:

* Unplug or turn the circuit breaker off for 30 seconds.
* Reconnect the unit to the power source by turning the breaker back on or plugging the unit back into the wall outlet.
* Press the Pause/Cancel/Stop button twice to clear the "PF" in the display.
* Start a short cycle to check the operation of the machine by selecting a cycle and pressing and holding the start button until the machine starts.

The F01 generally indicates a failed electronic machine control board.
This error code can sometimes be caused by a glitch or power surge through the electrical lines.
You may be able to clear this code by unplugging the washer for 5 minutes.
If the code returns after plugging the washer back in, then the electronic machine control board will need to be replaced.

The procedure for accessing and replacing this control board is shown in this image...

http://media.fotki.com/1_p,wkwdftgtbkdgfrwxgtqsskgwtqkq,vi/ksrttqdqrxkssrqtgsd/1/1303472/5961857/image12917img-or.jpg

Be sure to unplug the washer before accessing internal components.
When you access the control board, I recommend transferring the wires from the old control board to the new replacement control board one connection at a time.
Once you have all of the wires transferred, remove the old control board and mount the new control board in the washer.
Reassemble and test the washer.

The "F01" error code indicates a communication error between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the EEPROM onboard the CCU.
The "F01" can also be displayed if the onboard "Pump Driver" fails to activate.
Generally in order to correct this failure will require replacing the CCU.
There is no way to test and verify if the control board has failed.
The technical data sheet basically states to replace the CCU.

My Whirlpool Caylpso display is stuck and will not start

You can try unplugging it for at least two hours and then re-starting. Since I moved my washer starting acting up getting stuck at various points in a cycle--sometimes 19 minutes, or 12, or 33, or 3...no rhyme or reason, no specific point in the cycle. My mover is an appliance repair guy and told me to do the unplug thing and it has worked multiple times--not that I enjoy having this happen over and over, but he told me Sears would charge a minimum of 100 to show up at the door, and I don't have that right now. Anyhow, it has only worked if I left it alone at least 2 hours---my new strategy is going to be unplugging it daily...I love the washer but this is nutty.

A problem with machine

The washer has a field service mode. To enter the service mode: 1. Press the POWER key to turn the washer on. Make sure the HOME screen is displayed. 2. Press HELP. 3. Press and hold MY CYCLES and BACK simultaneously for 3 seconds. The display should display any recorded errors. write them down, including all MORE screens. This should be enough to get you started. Note: You must press EXIT and unplug the washer to clear all error messages and to activate the setup mode program. After repairs are made, you have to run a setup / self diagnostic check to get washer operating again. (prompts on screen when plugged back in and turned on) We can't ask for or give out email's, however if it slipped in an ask me maybe some scanned pages from a service manual might be had. This is most likely an involved exchange. Don't know how much info (ie: free time and advice) I'll be able to allow.
