I have a DEWALT DC920 drill-driver and have a bit stuck in the chuck. The chuck adjuster appears to be stripped. Need to remove the bit and replace the chuck. Any ideas on how to get the bit released?

Try tapping on all sides of the chuck lightly with a hammer and wiggling the bit... you can also try to spray some oil into the chuck and see if that loosens the bit for you... You can also clamp the bit in a vise (or get someone with a pair of pliers) and pull, that will sometimes do the trick.

3/8" cordless driver can't change the

If debris enters the chuck it may no longer turn for adjustment. Spray plenty of wd40 into chuck and allow plenty of time for oil to do its magic. Hold chuck/drill pointing down and turn drill in both directions to clean out debris. If chuck is too far gone, remove the center screw (backwards thread) and remove the chuck(threaded on). Replace the chuck with new generic part from Lowes (about $25.).

I have a dc 759 it has a plastic cover over the keyless chuck ....it is stripped out.....can i just replace the plastic cover? .... if so how and where can i get one

If the drill is not too old, I would take it to your nearest factory dewalt repair shop. they have a good warranty on their items. If it is older you probably need to replace the chuck itself. You need to remove the plastic to get the chuck open and then there is a screw down inside the chuck that needs removed. The chuck should come right off and just reverse the process to install the new one.

How to remove a chuck from a DeWalt hand drill

Open chuck all the way (like for a large drill bit). There should be a set screw at the bottom (where you would put a drill bit). Don't turn too hard - it may be a left handed screw (I don't remember if it is a lefty for sure but try gently each way then with a bit more force each way until it moves).

Good luck.

How to Remove Bit from Dewalt Quick Connect Adapter DW0521

Hold the chuck by its sleeve, put the drill in reverse (make sure it's set at high torque if you used it in a drill/driver) and go full speed. That should release the bit.

Dewalt dc920 repair instructions chuck

To remove the chuck on your drill follow the instructions for the type of drill chuck you have:
Instructions for removing a keyed chuck
Most reversing drills have a left hand threaded screw located inside the bottom of the chuck.
1.) If the unit has this screw place the chuck key, with the chuck facing toward you, into one of the holes on the right side of the chuck. Strike the key in a clockwise direction with a wooden mallet or similar object. This will loosen the screw inside the chuck.
2.) Open chuck jaws fully. Insert screwdriver into the bottom of the chuck to engage screw head. Remove screw by turning clockwise this is a left-hand screw.
3.) With the chuck facing toward you place the key into one of the holes on the left side of the chuck. Using a wooden mallet or similar object, strike the key sharply in a counter-clockwise direction. This will loosen the chuck so that it may be unscrewed by hand.
There is no way to stop the motor from turning.
It may require several attempts to loosen the chuck
