Maytag Atlantis MAV6000 Top Load Washer Logo

Hello, I have a Maytag Atlantis 6200 washing machine. I have been having trouble for a while. It would not go into the spin cycle. I would have to put it back on the spin cycle to spin and empty, and then again after the rinse cycle...same thing. Well today, i put it back on the spin cycle after the wash cycle and I heard it stop on its own so I thought good. Not good. The laundry room was full of smoke. I had to bale and I took everything apart and cleaned the tubs, checked the pump..ok and thought the motor was fried but it runs now. The belt didn't even seem too bad. When I moved the machine to clean the floor, there is a large ring of grease on the floor. Could this be the transmission going?

Grease is a bad sign. Tranny is probably about shot - aside from your other problems. You may want to start pricing new machines.

I'm pretty sure it's not worth fixing this machine. The fact that it was so bad that itsmoked probably means that your motor was heavily stressed and may end up giving out on you even if you replace the transmission. I'm not sure if your timer is working properly either if it wasn't advancing through the spin cycle. I wouldn't take the gamble that nothing else was damaged in the smoking incident because a transmission by itself is usually a large percentage of the cost of a new machine. In any case, good luck.

My maytag atlantis mav6200 only spins on whites cycle

Try running the machine in another cycle the very next time you use it. I'm trying to determine if this is machine fault something else.

If you just used the machine wait for about 1/2 hour before starting it again.
