RICOH error 990 - Ricoh Aficio GX3050N Printer

SC-990 - Communication problem between BICU and input output board or software performance error.

I would suggest contacting Ricoh customer service.

An SC990 is usually an error indicating maintenance is overdue. The only way to verify that is by printing out the SMC report and seeing the subcodes. In the case of this model when is the last time the drum and developer was replaced?

Error 990 indicates a dirty sensor, so either a maintenance unit is dirty or you have a clogged print head. You can read more about this error on Richo website where you can see in the images what you need to clean.

Error 990 means the problem is with the scanning unit which is basically called a laser unit as well that requires a replacement.

Error 990 is an error message that has to do with the ink drying out on the maintenance unit. Unfortunately this is a fatal error and the printer will need to be replaced as the maintenance unit can only be fixed by a technician. You will have contact Ricoh for further information on possible replacement.

This is an error that has to do with the ink drying up on the maintenance unit. This cannot be fixed by the end user and must be fixed by Ricoh. Error 990 is a Ricoh defect in which the printer should qualify for replacement.

change the ink collector located in the rear of the machine

We got the same error on our machine, so I called Ricoh Direct Tech Support and they said it is a known manufacturer's error. All you have to do is 1. make sure your product is registered, 2. call them up and tell them the error and 3. they will send you a new machine. You will have to send back the old machine in the same box, but they provide the RMA for you to ship it back in.
