PANASONIC DVD-REC/VCR COMBO with Integrated Digital Tuner & HDMI-DMR-EZ47V playback

Discs downloaded on my Toshiba Windows Vista laptop are not recognised on my Panasonic Video/DVD Player combo. Movies that can fit in a CD-R80 disc work on my Panasonic player. None of the movies downloaded on DVD-RW, DVD-R, DVD+RW or DVD+R could play. All the discs I tried were automatically finalised when ejected on my laptop, but my Panasonic Player only ran the movies on the CD-R80 discs (a mere 80 mins capacity and not practical at all!)

When you say downloaded movies are they avi's, vob's mpegs, mov's or windows media files? Which files are you using on the cds? what software are you using to burn the discs? When you burn onto cds are you creating VCD's or just data discs. When you burn onto a RW disc it cannot be finalised. I think you are possibly either not using mpegs or vobs or you discs are not being finalised. (When i say vobs i mean dvd compiled and compatible discs)

Why has my Panasonic DMR EZ37 DVD recorder stopped reading DVD discs?

One possible reason is the discs may be scratched, another is the DVD discs are not in the same region of your DVD driver. Try to backup your DVD discs with DVDAid first, and then play in the DVD driver, then there will be region-free plyback for all your DVDs.

DMR-EZ47V cannot format the discs I have. Is this the discs or the device. I bought it 2nd hand recently

What type of disc are you trying to format? DVD-Rs that have already been finalised will be read-only. You don't need to format DVD-RAMs, just erase what's on them and re-record.

Panasonic DMR-ES30V DVD / VCR Combo Recorder - where can I buy another? If I have to buy latest model, will it finalise DVD's made on the above model?

You may be able to find an identical model for this combo unit on eBay or similar, otherwise if you do end up purchasing a new unit (for example a DMR-EZ48V which is a Panasonic) - you cannot finalise discs recorded on one model in a different one, and I doubt you would be able to even on an identical model, since there would be variations in their digital control circuitry.

This is why recorded DVDs must be finalised in the drive they were written in to enable compatible playback in standard players. You cannot change recording models or drives prior to finalising.

When I try to record a show. There is no picture on the disc when I'm done. Its just a white noise screen. I finalize the disc too. there is no prompt to tell me to format the disc.

If the disc playes back then the problem is not with the DVD unit. In order to record white noise, the channel selected for record is probably not tuned in. Try recording the same channel on to video tape and see what results you get.

Message appears unable to decode HD channels

DMR-EZ47V and EZ48V models do not feature a built in HD digital tuner - it is only SD - hence the reason it cannot decode HD. It is a model/design limitation; not a fault.

Panasonic DMR-EZ47V DVD Recorder / VCR Combo RC1 errior message how do I fix this problem

http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Video/DVD-Recorders-Players/DVD-Recorders/model.DMR-EZ47VK
http://www.retrevo.com/support/Panasonic-DMR-EZ47-DVD-Players-manual/id/2811ag420/t/2/
To get into Service Mode, first put the machine in STANDBY mode, then press the buttons ChUp OPEN/CLOSE and REC all at the same time on the front panel (Ch Up is hidden inside the AV3 input flap). Eventually the front panel display will show "SERV" (after its "HELLO" messages). Anyway, pressing [6] then [5] on the Remote Control tells me that I have an Error Code of "04" which is a Digital PCB or Communication Error (whereas an Error code of "02" means a "Defect of RAM drive"). (To exit from Service Mode, press [0] then [0] which should get you back to "SERV" and then POWER-OFF the machine).

Hopefully, your manual will display your error codes.

Perhaps the remote control is not set to the same control code as your DMR-ES40V. Codes may be set to 1, 2, or 3 on the remote by holding down the enter button and one of those number buttons for several seconds at the same time. The factory default is code 1. Try 1 first. If that doesn't work try 2. If that doesn't work try 3. If one of those codes doesn't work you may have a bad remote or a bad sensor on your machine. On DMR-ES35V models the sensor is located just to the right of center behind the black window

Static in playback of VCR on Panasonic DMR -EZ47V DVD/ VCR combo.

First make sure the cable on the back has the center pin and its in nice and tight.I would also try another VCR on the same line that way you can eliminate that first. Then if that doesn't show a problem it maybe a internal problem with a lose solder joint. Also I was wonder does the horizontal lines appear when you use a prerecorded tape.If it does you may need to clean your heads on the VCR.
