I need to reset my Dell Inspiron 530S back to factory settings. Can someone tell me how to go about doing this?

Go to Start----Control Panel-----User setting -----and select Administrator Account and change name and reset password. To do these steps you need to log in through Administrator Account.

try this:

1- shut it down then open the computer box
2- find a green or blue jumper beside the memory slot or Data cable slots
3- remove jumper , then turn computer on
wait for 10 sec then shut it down
4- put the jumper back and close the computer box
5- turn the pc on and have fun

Im assuming your running windows 7 on your dell, simply open your start menu and type in font then choose change font settings, when the window opens you will see and button that says restore default font settings, and that should do it.

Is the keyboard usb or ps2? If its usb then try another port. If its ps2(Green) then power down the pc by holding in the power button for 8 to 10 seconds. Pull the plug and make sure no pins are bent. Plug it back in and boot back up. This should fix the problem if its ps2. Regards

Someone has turned on the BIOS password on you and therefore the PC will not let you boot up unless you enter the correct password. The problem is you cannot turn off the password option unless you know the password. I would start by asking other people who had access to you computer what they set the password to. If nobody comes clean, then you will have to call Dell Tech Support to get them to reset the password for you. They will give you a master BIOS password to override the one set and turn off the option.

You dont have to factory reset it, if the PC was performing ok before, you can simply restore to previous settings.
