The door of my Hotpoint WT540, two months old, will not open. No water in the unit, runs through the cycles well, "door locked" indicator is not lit. Power is on. When the power is off, either at the switch or the socket, still unable to open. Latch handle can be moved, but seems not to be engaging anything. Thanks

SOURCE: Washer door won't open (hotpoint first editon 800)

I have just had exactly the same problem. 10 seconds of washing, fuse blew, replaced it, cycle completed but now the door lock is stuck on. Like you I tried a new cycle but this has done nothing. In the end (and I'm not suggesting that this a remedy to the problem) I unplugged the machine - pulled the door handle til a gap appeared at the top of the door and forced it open by working a pair of scissors in to the gap and pulling. Of course as soon as I shut the door again and turned on the power the lock light came straight back on the and the door was locked tight. Sorry but this is the best I have come up with short of calling some one out.

SOURCE: Door won't open

Usual reason for this is not emptied correctly. The filter on this model is in an awkward place so try lowering drain hose into a bowl to check if water still in.

SOURCE: hotpoint aquarius wt540 wont pump out water

Hiya Barry, I have the same machine and for the last 3 days have had the exact same problem...mini load and reduced crease as well as power light flash right when it comes to drain...?

I have scratched my head and done lots and lots of research, reckon I could design and build my own washer now lol, anyway, I fitted a new pump and ran it, thinking this is it sorted, went out and got a call from our lass...doing it again.

Right, gonna have to get me hands dirty...I removed the drain hose (Ignore the pump for a second, I'm talking about the grey hose that goes from the pump to the sink) from the sink and poked my fingers as far as they would go...debris, I then removed it from the other end (Pump) so I had a long hose in my hands, not attached to anything at either end....cleared it and again, loads of debris (Fluff, plastic etc) and put it all back together...turned the old fella back on and running a wash right now as we speak...happily spinning round at 1400rpm and throwing gallons of water down the sink...I would consider it fixed.

So I can most definately tell you that you have a blockage somewhere mate, I'd get your hands in the toolbox and pull that pipe off, doesn't require any level of experience, just the ability to put things back as you found them...

Hope that helps

SOURCE: Broken door handle Hotpoint WD860

Managed to work it out, you have to slide the outer door case away from the handle locking mechanism, slide left and move away (after undoing the 6 screws on the inside) :-)

SOURCE: hotpoint wt540 can't get filter out

It is possible you have got something stuck in filter, and this is what is stopping it coming out, you are turning it the right way, you will just have to stick with it, and keep trying to ease it out.
Keep trying to eaes it in and out, and you should be able to remove it eventually.

Thanks.

Door stay locked after finished washing hotpoint w/machine ref 9526

See if you notice any water still inside the washing machine, if so run another spin cycle to try and remove it as it will not open if there is still water inside.
If you don't see any water inside, try unplugging it and letting it cool off, the lock should release after this

My washer dryer was on baby cycle wash and although the green light has come on to indicate it has finished, red lock key is also on and I am unable to open the door.

Opening locked washing machine door

Our hotpoint wt540 does not work. Choose any cycle and the wash light comes on and stays on. Then theres a small clunk from the machine but thats it. The door locked light is not coming on.

There is a small electronic lock on the inside of the machine where the striker unit of the door locks into and it sounds as though this have malfunctioned. You can change this quite simply.
Power Off machine
Take metal band which hold on door seal
Peel door seal off and you can now put your hand in and take this interlock out
Sometimes the lock will have screws to secure to the body of the machine
The lock might have visible signs where it has burnt but sometimes it wont
You can buy this lock from a parts supplier by quoting the model number and serial or product number found on the inside of the door
If this fails to work you most probably have a fault with the main board not recognising the door lock. For reconditioned modules and mother boards you can goto http://emwelec.co.uk/

Hotpoint wt940

the door is not locking , possibly caused by the interlock itself or motor brushes worn ( most likely if machine is a few years old at least ) could also be no power to lock via control board .

For the age of it, you can either replace it or get it fixed. I would personally get a quote first for repair.

Got a hotpoint washing machine aquarius WT540 think catch is broken how can i open the door

If the catch is broken you are going to need to get at it from inside to release it.

This is usually best done by taking the top or back off and reaching in to release the lock.

Make sure you disconnect the electricty and water before trying this.

Hotpoint WT540 1400 spin Washing Machine stuck on cycle

Could be a sticking water level switch, which controls the water level, or a blockage in the hose to the switch, or a trapped or split hose to the switch. the hose in question is about 6mm in diam, and goes from the sump hose to the pressure switch,if u remove the hose from the preesure switch chamber, check for a blockage there, and blow down the hose to see if it is clear, u should hear the switch click if it is clear, if no click and hose is clear, then I wud say the switch is faulty.
