Linksys routers are one of the most popular routers on the market. They are known for their reliability and ease of use. Unfortunately, there are times when a Linksys router will not work. Here are some reasons why a Linksys router may not be working:
The first thing you should do is check all of the cables to make sure they are plugged in correctly. If they are, then the next thing to check is the settings on your router. If you are still having trouble, you can try resetting your router.
There may be a problem with the router itself. If the router is not turning on or if it is not connecting to the internet, there may be a problem with the hardware.
There may be a problem with the cable connection. If the router is not able to connect to the internet, it may be because the cable is not working. Make sure that the cable is properly plugged into the router and the computer.

I had same problem but I think it's more of a simple solution. Linksys default IP it uses is 192.168.1.1, and guess what...so is the zhone router. I changed my linksys router to 192.168.10.1 and i am able to connect to the internet. Only problem I have left is some things are not working such as MSN messenger and https pages. I am wondering why...

I recently saw this issue on a Yadtel "Fiber in home" network connection. The Zhone modem was configured in "pass thru" mode. I tried 4 different Linksys routers. Only a very old one worked. The 3 others would not establish a pppoe connection. I tried a Netgear and it worked on the first go. All routers were configured to 192.168.2.1. I flashed the Linksys router firmware to their latest release.

Hello!

-- who is your internet service provider
-- what is the operating system of your computer?
-- is this working fine before or is this a brand new router

i have read the same problem on the supportrix forum and you may try this and see if this help solve your problem. make sure your computer is directly connected to the router

Step 1: Shutdown the computer.
Step 2: reset the router while power on then Unplug the router’s power cable.
Step 3: Unplug the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for 30 seconds.
Step 4: Plug in the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for its lights to appear stable.
Step 5: Plug in the router's power cable once the modem’s lights appear stable.
Step 6: Power on the computer on and configure the router settings
Step 7: test the Internet connection.

if this still didnot work, upgrade the firmware of your router and repeat the same steps.
note:
configuring the router settings will depends who is your provider. if your isp is dsl you need to configure your ISP username (email address format) and password on the router. if your router is a cable no need to change any settings on the router. it should automatically work

HOW DO I CONNECT DSL LINE TO LINKSYS WRT54GS

The WRT54GS does not have a jack to connect a phone/DSL line to, so in order to use this router with a DSL connection, you'd have to connect the DSL line to a modem and then connect the modem to the router, or connect the DSL line to a computer if you have an internal modem, and then connect that computer to the router.

I have a zhone 6211-I3-200-ADSL2+CPE w/phone filter. I am trying to connect 2 computers (1 laptop, 1 desk top) to a linksys WRT 150n wireless router and cannot get the wireless connection to work. It shows...

1.Log into router
2. Verify wireless router name( on the computer) >>> ( on/off)
3.Note router name you are connecting to.
4.. Check the laptop do ipconfig /all to see current IP addresses.
5. Set the laptop up in the router by WEP KEY or MAC address.
6.Note router name you are connecting to.
7. Move the laptop about 20ft away and try to log on to the internet.
This is for all routers to set up wirelessly.

Switched from DSL modem to Cable modem. Linksys

If you had your linksys router controlling the DSL connection, it was most likely a PPPoe connection requiring a username and password. Most cable companies have dynamic IP address and do not require a username or password.

Open your internet browser, IE, Firefox etc and go to 192.168.1.1 >
Enter your router username and password, typically admin and admin

In the setup tab, change your connection FROM whatever is listed there and make sure it is Autumatic DHCP Save your settings, and restart the router.

You should be fine.

The linksys wrt54gs-uk

With a DSL modem in the US, you need to confiugre the router for PPPOE with the username/password that was provided to you by your ISP. If you can't remember the name or password, contact your ISP

DSL line disconnects on WRT54GS only

Try to change the LAN IP address of your router to 192.168.2.1 by accessing the router's Setup page. You also need to set your Westell modem to "full-bridge mode". You need to ask assistance from your ISP to bridge the modem. After that, set-up the Linksys router to PPPoE then power cycle it.

Linksys Wireless-G (WRT54GS (EU/LA/UK))

I have had that issue quite often and found that when you are using a router with DSL, the DSL modem and Router IP has a conflict because they are the same number. I suggest looking into a D-Link wireless router for use with DSL.

Wireless router connectivity WRT54GS

The first thing we need to insure is that you are connecting to this router via cable and not wirelessly, though it is possible to configure the router via a wireless connection it is very much not recommended for various reasons.
If you ARE connecting via wire, please be specific as to what happens after you enter 192.128.1.1 in the HTTP line of your browser.
