I have a Maytag air conditioner. Model number M6T12F2A. I need to replace the filter because the light is blinking. I can't find how to get to the filter. Do I remove the whole front or is there a slot I can open to get to it?
Actually, on that model, the filter pulls out from the front right underneath the blowers there are tabs on either side you pull toward you and then it just slides right out.Actually, on that model, the filter pulls out from the front right underneath the blowers there are tabs on either side you pull toward you and then it just slides right out.

It usually helps when you put the model numbers of the thermostat or furnace. Some need to be reset, some are simply a count down clock and its a reminder to change them.
The blinking power light indicates that the water collection tank needs to be emptied. Be sure to turn the unit OFF & unplug it, before draining the tank. And while you're at it, now would be a good time to remove and clean the air intake filter. Once these 2 things are completed, the unit should run as designed.
I have the same model air conditioner, and had the same symptoms. As you've probably discovered, Fedders is the company that actually built it, and went of business. No one is supporting it any more.
However, you may be in luck. I fixed the problem by simply tipping the unit almost all the way over on its back (leave a little gap) and letting the water drain out of the hose and the filter. After that, it started right up.
If you purchased this unit new, it should have came with the remote. If it is a used model, you might try writing down the model, serial, and product number and check with the Maytag Dealer, or go online with all information and see if you can order a new one. Sincerely, shastalaker
The drain hole is likely clogged with lent and trash. Make sure it is
level or leaning dow a bit on the back side. I had to drill five holes
in the bottom rear of my old window unit to stop water draining down
the insdie wall. Make sure you dont drill into a usefull component of
the AC or kiss it goodbye.
I tried to locate your model but Maytag uses the first 3 letters in the model number to find their product. The number you gave would not work. I can tell you this, the voltage and amperage are located behind the filter on a data plate. The higher the voltage the lower the amperage, Hope that helps, Sea Breeze
There's something wrong with your aircon. Usually the lights will start to blink. Depending on the brand and model, the number of times it blinks will give you an error code which tells you what's spoilt. You may like to check this out http://www.astiquer.com/blinking.html
