TOMtom go720 When I turn on my TOMTOM GO720 a red X appears on the screen instead of maps

Take the 2 UK files from this link and copy them into the "zip" folder of your tom tom.

OK remove the Battery from inside, and look for a little "Hole" and push a ... say, a straightened Paper Clip and press it, hold for a second or so, & reassemble. You should be all good.

go to tomtom's website and manually download their software. Save it to your HD and run it.

The program should automaticly load the correct drivers and will prompt you when to connect the GPS.

TAKE NOTE of how long you are allowed to get free map updates and make sure you do update the maps before that time expires.

also with my GO720 I skipped an update so instead of the update costing $49 they now want double that because my maps are 2 revisions old.

Hi Guys,

This is a problem with the application v8.300
if you are using a map v8.XX or higher you will need to wait for the next appilcation update which should fix this.
if you are using a map vv7.XX or lower, you can remove the 8.300 application from your device and download v7.481 by updating your tomtom again, this will revert your application to an earlier version which you can use until the next application is released.

if you are refferring to the promotion code that appears in the tom tom home software that is no longer used it was to help with the map guarntee but that has been changed

most of ebay purchases are sold with maps from other devices and then played with alittle to get them running on your device, so when you update, say bye bye to your map, do not update if you buy from ebay, unless you buy the real map then your fine

The Go720 do not use a product code, if the map are version 7xx
If the map you are trying to install is version 6xx, then you need to activate.
