The most common cause for a clothes dryer drum to turn slowly or not start turning at all, is usually due to a faulty 'start capacitor'.
The capacitor stores electricity to help get everything turning from the stopped position. Once turning, less effort is required by the motor to keep everything turning.
Other components like a broken drive belt, burnt out electric motor, broken wire among other things etc also need to be considered.

SOURCE: dryer tries to start - then stops and beeps PLEASE HELP

Check the exhaust hose. If the dryer isn't venting properly it will either stop or the heater will turn off and the clothes will remain wet. If the hose is not clogged check the wall vent tube.

SOURCE: Dryer Problem

Grinding noise most likely due to the front drum bearings worn out - result is the metal drum making contact with the rim of the from panel.

This requires a total disassembly of the dryer to investigate & likely replacement of the front slipper pads (dry nylon slipper bearings 4 x ).

This will only be a succesful repair if you stopped using the dryer the moment it started screeching.

If you have let it run, the metal-on-metal will have gouged the edge of the drum and will rip up any new replacement bearing pads.

Do not attempt this unless you are a very competent handyperson. Many screws lost, cut fingers and swear words will ensure if you are not confident in approaching this job, so either toss the dryer or get a competent repairman to do the job.

SOURCE: my fisher and paykel dryer ( mod# ED56 ) wont start, power is on

I had this same problem with my Dryer. It is making the few quick beeps because it thinks the door is still open. Near the bottom of the opening to the dryer there is a sensor switch that gets pushed in when you shut the door. Try holding the switch in with a knife or something and then start the dryer with the door open to check if that is the problem.
After i did this, i closed the door and my dryer started as normal.

Kelvinator auto Sensing Dryer ED55 trips the fuse in the fusebox as soon as the dryer is turned on. All other appliances switched off therefore not overload.

check that it is not a fuse but a circuit breaker ( earth leakage breaker) that protects not only against overload but against faulty machines
if there is moisture, bad insulation , incorrect installation or anything that could cause an electric shock that unit will shut down the power supply
call an electrician to find the fault

Dryer will run but it will not heat?

Heating cycle failure...

a) Heating element faulty.

b) One of the safety switches (Thermal fuse / High temp cut off etc) has burned out.

c) Rare case... Control board not giving power to heating circuit. Control board failure.

d) Heating sensor issues. Try the time dry to see there is heat instead of auto cycle. May be your heat sensing thermistors....

But mostly either above a) or b) reason.

Fisher paykel dryer ed56

Could be the door switch or temp sensor. To check the door switch put pressure against the door and see if it stops. Check the slot the door hits to see if there is anything loose in there.

My F&P ED56 dryer just hums when it is turned on. The lights come on and it hums, but it doesn't turn or blow air. We have checked the belt (that is OK), the drum can spin by hand, there is no lint...

sounds like it maybe the motor, here are other reasons the drum won't turn and how to open the dryer. Good Luck Tim:

Last Fault
To enter the last fault diagnostics, enter the diagnostic mode as described
above, then press the Auto Dry up button three times. The last fault will be
displayed on the drying progress LEDs.

Hi I have a Fisher & Paykel Auto Sensing dryer model ED56... The dryer only works for about 10 seconds and then starts to beep..have I touched something I shouldnt have...turning it off and starting...

Hi,

Initially, try a reset; unplug from the mains for about half an hour. Thereafter, plug it in, press Power and restart.

If not corrective, verify that the lint filter is clean and that the Delay Start has not been engaged. Likewise pls check if your particular version/model has a reset switch at the rear of the unit. often, this would be a small pushbutton type. Press on it. try again.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
