That beeping is telling you exactly what is wrong. System error beeps are a bit like a Morse code. Google the beeping sequence eg, ² short ¹ long or whatever you are hearing and there's your answer.

If to much RAM is put in the system will not register thus the black screen. Lower your RAM. Sometimes you may go half a gb to 1 gb higher than max recommended but Check the max of your unit first!! I have a different unit says 2 gb max but I got away with 3 and 4 is too much.

I feel the problem is with the RAM.

Please use 1GB atleast, DDR 2 SDRAM and check your system.

Black screen but i didnt hear any beeps

Dear frnd,
its looks like Operating system problem. some times its happens that you power on and its display nothing except a black screen. you need to re-install the os but before it you have to confirm that your display screen is working. for that check the display in dark place so that when you power on its screen going to slightly white if its happens than its screen is ok if its doesn't than you have to change display screen cable inside of the laptop.

Loud beep

Multiple beeps while starting up is most of the time a message for a defect in the hardware. Try taking out some parts, put 1 by 1 back in and after placing 1 part, try to start up first. Thats an easy way to find the part thats defect. Most of the time its a dying ram. If you want to test the ram first, you can use the program Memtest 86+

Continuous beep

Usually a beep can mean multiple things:
if it is a pattern beep there is most likely bad ram stick(s). If it is ram issues you will not get anything on the screen
If it is a beep and the screen powers on and shows anything like the BOIS text or windows startup you most likely have a key on your keyboard that is stuck so its down. Search for any sticky keys

What is the problem if 7 beepings in dell inspiron mini 1012

If it were a desktop computer, with a removable video-card, then re-seat the video-card.
But, since it's a netbook, the video-card is not removable.
So, about the only removable part is the RAM. Remove the RAM, and re-seat the RAM.

If all else fails, take it to a qualified technician for professional repair.

7 beep error message for dell inspiron mini 1018

For the Dell Inspiron Mini 1012 Netbook, 7 beeps indicates bad memory (system RAM). The memory will need to be replaced.
The RAM can be replaced using a small Phillips screwdriver and removing the back-plate on the bottom of the laptop. When you see the memory (sticks around 3 inches long), pull those out and put new ones in. Make sure it's the correct DDR2 memory.
Good luck!

I have dell mini1012, its getting on but only white display and it gives me 7 beeps at a time..

try to turn off the laptop and remove the cables and the battery on it. Then, press and hold the power button for 10 secs. Then reinsert the cables and battery on it and then turn on the laptop. If it still beeps, there is a problem with your memory chips inside your laptop. Kindly call Dell to repair your laptop with this issue..
