I normally do this on a pc with an image resize program that lets you right click on the image file and selct an option to resize it. I run Win 7 and use MS ImageResize power toy in Windows XP compatibility mode to do this. If that seems like much, the following program comes highly recommended for windows 7 users and is free:

Not detecting paper on top of the glass

if you are trying to scan/copy a receipt of something else that is smaller, try to tape it to a regular sheet of paper before you copy it.
then the unit can detect the paper size.

Paper goes scew whiff when trying to print. Says there is a paper jam but none visible.

Smaller torn bits of paper may still be in the printer. Unplug the power, open the back access panel. Look for torn or jammed paper. Also check the ADF (auto document feeder) for a jam.

When you try it again, Dell recommends that you fan your paper. Fanning the paper helps break apart the bonds left by improperly cut paper which leaves the edges of the sheets interlocked.

Won't print

Hi, try a smaller quantity of paper in the paper feed tray. Also check the paper pick-up mechanisms rubber roller for too much smoothness. If the rubber roller feels too smooth, Use a lint free cloth dipped in alcohol to "clean" them.

How is 4" x 6" paper loaded?

There are settings that should allow you to specify the page size usually in the printer program that is installed on your computer as well as if you were using your printer as a stand alone device ,it will not be a problem with your Mac or printer but perhaps the instruction menu not been user friendly , I suggest you look at your printer settings in trouble shooting under paper loading etc or paper size as even the very cheap printers allow for smaller paper sizes even envelopes .You might try the print preview which should let make changes if need be .
