Open the washer lid and see if you can rotate the wash basket CCW this is the Spin direction. The wash basket should not rotate CW. If the the wash basket will not rotate CCW then I feel the One-Way Roller Clutch bearing is seized. If you place the washer cycle in a Spin Only cycle I believe you may see the same fail process with no error code. If you want to DIY the fix Google this Neptune TL Washer FAV6800AWW. That will take you to a FAV6800A Sticky. In the Sticky: Neptune TL Washer FAV6800AWW 5 post down you will find a link to the Service Manual. You absolutely need the Service Manual to DIY issues with the machine. It's not the best SM but will get you started. I also have repair post in that sticky to help with the most common issues that I have helped owners with. I'm an owner of a FAV6800AWW top load machine. I feel you will find that the Clutch has failed due to a leaky Tub Seal. A replacement Clutch Pulley will more than likley get you back in service. Once you have the Service Manual you can pull the front cover off drop the Clutch Pulley out and inspect. I won't offer any more help on this site it is just to difficult to work issues. You can see by past ratings I know the machine and have helped owners. If you are not the DIY type then callin in a Service Repair will cost $65 to $90 range and more than likely they will not have a clue. Go thru the FAV6800A forum here and search the post. i.e. this is typical repair service result for support........ http://www.fixya.com/support/t8683813-6_year_old_maytag_neptune_tl_washer_just Not hammering service people, most just don't have the hands on knowledge to diagnose machine issues. Once you know the fail point anyone that has very basic mechanical skill sets can repiar the machine. Go to the forum that has the Sticky and open up an issue in the Maytag washer part of that forum and I will help. I scan the forum a few times a day. If you are not into a DIY fix just disregard this post.
