I would not advise you to refill a toner cartridge becausethe toner powder is very fine and you do not want to breath in this tonerpowder. When the toner cartridge is exhausted or empty then theprinter will not be able to print further documents or the prints will be veryfaint. You may be able to print a few more pages by removing thetoner cartridge and shaking the toner cartridge in a horizontal position a fewtimes and then placing it back into the printer. This will give you an opportunity to print a few more pages and giveyou time to purchase a new toner cartridge for your printer. A cheaperalternative is to purchase a re-manufactured toner cartridge for your modelprinter.A re-manufactured printer cartridge also replaces worn partsas well as refilling with toner powder.
Here is the solution that will reset the count and allow your fully
functional toner cartridge (the one the printer tells you is empty) to
continue to work.
Open the front cover. Press options button. Press
the start button. Press + or up arrow button 10 times. Press set
button.
You have to do this with a long pause or the system will
reset and you will have to start over.
When the Toner Life End LED flips on, requires you to replace the cartridge,
even when there's still toner left in the cartridge. The machine
detects end of life by shining a light through from one side to the
other. To circumvent the detection mechanism, remove the cartridge and put
a piece of masking tape over or jam a little bit of paper into the clear opening/circle on the right side
of the toner cartridge, and then pop the cartridge back in. Eventually,
you'll start seeing streaks, and then you'll know that the cartridge is
truly empty.
Open the cover, leaving everything inside. Press Options, then *00 to reset the fax.
If that doesn't work:
Open the front cover and remove the cartridge and drum. Turn off the fax. On the right-hand side of the cartridge, there is a round hole that is covered with a clear plastic or glass. Cover that hole up with tape, put the cartridge back in the drum, and put them back into the fax, and turn it back on.
Try removing the new toner cartridge from the machine, and shake it up and down and sideways, over a newspaper. Then, put it back in the machine and see if that helps. Sometimes, especially if the new cartridge was exposed to high temperatures or humidity before you got it, the toner SETTLES inside. Shaking it up can usually help.
