WIFI dongles are very scewy anyway let alone one trying to use a third party operating system. I have never seen one that stated it was compatable with Linux so yes it prolly is a conflict with your operating system. That PC runs great with XP or Win7 buy an OEM CD off Newegg for about $99. All ur drivers are on Acers website. The only 1 u will need to load is the SD card the others are embedded in XP and Win7. If u use Win7 u may try the Vista driver 4 the SD card.
First: Check if the device is installed and working properly - My Computer-(right click)-Manage-Device Manager - be sure there is nothing wrong in "Sound, video and Game Controllers" section. If there is something wrong, you will see it immediately, then fix it. If in that section all is OK, then 1) go to Acer FTP site and get Realtek driver there (ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/netbook/aspire_one_150/driver/Audio_Realtek_v.5.10.0.5772.zip). 2) Uninstall running Realtek driver using Control Panel and reboot. 3) When XP after reboot will ask for driver installation, just cancel this and install Realtek driver downloaded. 4) Check with Skype your voice recording and enjoy. All this is valid if you do not have your microphone physically broken. Tested by myself - I had the same situation.
Linux or Windows version? If Windows, go to START, SETTINGS, CONTROL PANEL, SCANNERS AND CAMERAS and click on the USB Camera icon or download and run SKYPE.
Hi, the Acer Aspire is a Linux operating system based computer. It does not run Microsoft windows in the same way that Apple computers run OSX, not windows. The antivirus programs you mention are for windows computers. On the bright side, running Linux you really DON'T need virus protection Linux is inherently far more secure than windows.
For aspire one you need to download the Fedora 7 package from the Skype Website.
Afterwards, just do what your aspire asks you to do. When everything is installed, just press alt+F2, type in "skype", en press "Run". Skype will start up. That's it
