Hello
As far as picture is OK, there must be sound output from the TV. If not, first check its speaker for open voice coil. You can chek it either with the help of a mutimeter of with a mere torch cell. If the speker is Ok, sound out put IC may got damaged. To confirm this, just take the audio out socket ant the TV and get it connected to an other audio output source, like amplifier or so, and check whether the sound comes fro it or not. If yes, it is clear that the audio output IC inside your TV is damged. It s part number is giver in its schematic manual as [9338 466 60682]. This is the part number given to that IC by Philips. The actual number may be somewhat TDA...... series. It is a replacable part, and can be located at the sound output section inside your TV. You can get it from authorised spare part shops of Philips, bu giving the part number I've given above.
If there is no sound output from the external audio device as we connected before, the sound detection section inside your TV has some fault and it is very difficult o locate, and must have most modern testing equipments, as well as the schematic diagram of your TV. The technician must have very experienced, and familier with handling philips sets, otherwise he may get things worse. If the second mentioned is the condition of your Philips set, it is very best for you to get it repaired by authorised service centers of Philips only.
OK.
Hi, sorry to tell you this, but static electricity has killed every conceivevable type of electronic device ever built by man or woman. The insides of your TV has very high voltage and the only safe solution is to take it to a repair man. Ask for a qoute before any work is done, try to get at least 2 quotes.
It may be cheaper to replace than repair the unit and with 2 quotes you will know that you are not being conned.
