Try raising your pickups.a over drive. It might be your amp settings. Modify your guitar to active emg 81/85 pickups. Plus 24 fret guitars don't sustain as well as 22 fret guitars. Your tremelo design might be affecting your sustain also. You may just need a new guitar. Try raising the pickups first then buy a tube screamer or another overdrive behringer makes a od400 for 23 bucks

I personally use Seymour Duncan Humbucker pickups, and have never been disappointed. You might want to take your guitar up to a music shop and try it on different amps to see if your amp is your problem, or if it is your guitar's pickups or wiring. You could also try adjusting the height of the pickups until the sound you are looking for is achieved. I have also had guitar cables make a big difference in the sound. Make sure you have a good set of cables, and you may want to adjust the EQ settings of your amp to make up what the guitar lacks.

Tone changes in pearly gates pick up

What you describe sounds like pickups fighting against each other meaning, does this occur when using pickups individually or together? This is normal when using more than one pickup together, if it occurs in single mode, something is wired wrong. Another thing is, If using single, are you splitting coils? Individual coils wired wrong can do this, a bad pickup selector switch can also. A loose wire or fiber touching the tone pot capacitor or ground could also. A dead coil on a humbucker can as well. I'm guessing that you are using these in combo meaning a possible pickup selector switch may not be switching properly. The player's level of experience is also in my mind since, all of my guitars do the exact same ONLY when I use more than one pickup. I hardly ever use more than one at a time unless I'm playing a strat.

Wiring a guitar

Here's the diagram.
You should have all 4 wires from the humbucker pickups if you want the 2nd and 4th position to work.

My s5470 ibanez has a lower output in the two out a phase positions. is this normal or should volume level be the same regardless of toggle position. Thank you Arnold

Volume levels change depending on the settings... Also the harmonic content changes so the "apparent" volume will seem different. Find somebody else with the same unit and compare them side by side. Also the type of strings MAY change the sound.

I have an Epiphone Les Paul Custom Silverburst, and it's pretty new and has worked great until now. It seems my bridge pickup lost tone and volume for some reason. My volume and tone knobs are cranked...

Need more info: 1- does the volume control still change the level? 2-Does tone control still change the tone? 3- What happens when in the center position on pickup select switch? Put pickup switch in center position (both pickups active). Then take a coin and tap on the pickups. Does bridge pickup sound lower? Lastly remove rear electronics cover and inspect all wiring for something loose or disconnected.

I am looking for a manual (if there is one) for the Epiphone Sheraton II. I need to know which knobs do what (and also the three way switch) on the guitar. The guitar came with no manual!!

Most likely it is wired like most Gibsons. The volume knobs are the two at the neck end, the tones are the two nearest the rear. The lower two are volume and tone for the bridge pickup, the upper two are for neck pickup. Switch down is bridge or lead pickup, switch up is for neck or rythym pickup, and centre position is both pickups one, where all knobs can be used together.

Hi, After installation of my fsk-401, it worked fine, but after i fine tuned my pickup heights to the specifications on the installation manual, it started screeching everytime i flicked it on. Also, it...

Understand that in a feedback system if the gain exceeds plus one, it will oscillate. This sustainer kit PROBABLY pushes the gain up close to this feedback point and that is the way it works when set correctely. This is called regeneration. This is technical stuff...

The pickup heights are likely the main control of this feedback gain, so raising the strings up relative would be in the right direction.

ALSO IF your guitar can "hear" your amp, then you can have feedback due to the sound vibrating the strings. Try turning down the treble on the amp and see if that might help.

Some electronics when run with dying batteries becomes unstable.

These are just suggestions based on my engineering experience. I wish I was there to run some tests as that is the way to troubleshoot.

Epiphone BB King Lucille guitar treble pickup in mono mode

Realize that when you plug into the one jack it disconnects the fingerboard pickup from the mix.

DO NOT USE "stereo" cables as it is intended to use TWO MONO cables, one for each side of the stereo.

IF you plug into the one jack that will connect to the bridge pickup, it will disconnect the fingerboard pickup from the mix BUT leave the fingerboard on its own jack.
That same jack will have BOTH fingerboard and bridge pickups IF the second jack (bridge) is not plugged into.

This is according to the schematic. If you find that yours works backwards, then either the schematic is wrong OR your guitar pickups may be electrically swapped.

Neck and Middle pickups make little sound even with volume at max

Hi There!!

I am a gitarist myself too and firstly let me tell you u have purchased an excellent guitar to begin with!!
Now about the Neck\blues pickup.....If you say there is little sound this can be because of:-
1)Faulty bridge adjustment
2)There can be a problem also because of  the neck of the guitar being a bit bent in or around the place where u have the pick-ups though the chances of that are rare.

If there is no sound then please contact your dealer to change the piece....
Have a great time playing

Hoping this helped.Any help regarding the above steps , feel free to ask them.
See ya.
