Will my Elekta LCD TV work with 110 VAC?? The model is ELCD-4286FHD. The back panel states after "power supply" 220-240Vac 50/60htz. I was in the Middle East when I bought it and the saleman stated that it would work with US power (110Vac 60htz) but the placard would seem to contradict that. Is there a way to change the power requirement OR am I stuck rewiring the room for a 220V outlet??

You may be able to get a transformer that plugs directl into a 110V socket. Check the current/power requirement of the TV first though. This one is quite low power http://www.ebay.ie/itm/USA-to-UK-110V-to-230V-Step-Up-Voltage-Converter-transformer-step-up-ac-mains-/232068536781?hash=item36085cd9cd:g:qvIAAOSwFe5XyVnJ

SOURCE: LCD TV WONT POWER ON

A dead condition usually indicates one of the following: Open fuse (often internal, and usually pops due to other circuit defects). Short (overload condition) in the circuitry. Failure elsewhere in the circuitry. Most modern electronics have some logic circuitry, and if there is a section of the circuit not working, the logic circuit keeps the set from coming on at all.

First, if your power cord plugs into the set, check that it is properly connected. If you can get into the internals, find the fuse, check it, replace with an exact or near exact size.

If problems are beyond the simple, technical expertise will be required to nail down and fix the problem.

SOURCE: Gateway 26" LCD Power Supply

There is a silver lining....
Unless you physically see burned components on the power supply main board, it
is not fried. If you examine the board on the back side ( solder joint side) you will notice that there is a devider that is clearly marked between the Primary and secondary sides of the board. There will also be a large transformer accross this area.
All switch mode power supplies have optical couplers which cosist of a light emmiting diode usually infared and a photo transistor. These are for protecting the secondary side of the board or the expensive side. A typical switchmode power supply for an LCD tv will have at least three of these. They are roughly 1/4 inch long and 2/8 inch wide
and are black with four leads. They will be directly accross the marked portion of the board that seperates the primary or high voltage side of the board from the secondary.
These opticle couplers or switches cost an average of $ 7.00 a piece and are available
from any electronics supplier such as NTE.

I hope this helps. Remember it can all be repaired. Its a matter of if its economically
worth your time.

SOURCE: SYNTAX OLEVIA LT30 POWER SUPPLY

Yes they are bankrupt, and they did see repair services out to third party vendor- this appears to be phone support at $25 per 1/2 hour.

email response from service inquiry....

Thank you for contacting us. My name is Ravin and I understand that you have called in today for further troubleshooting but you were offered a paid service instead. Based on the information provided, I believe that the following steps should effectively resolve the issue:

I am sorry to inform you that, Syntax-Brillian, the manufacturer of the Olevia Brand, has declared chapter 11 bankruptcy and has ceased all operations. Because Syntax-Brillian is no longer in business the warranty for your product is void.

Amergence Technology, a 3rd party repair company, can offer paid repair services for your television and a paid service for further troubleshooting. Since Syntax-Brillian went out of business, Amergence is offering repair services to owners of Olevia HDTV's.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our Support Team at 866-965-3842 Monday through Friday between 7.00am 5.00pm PST

SOURCE: I need help with disassembly of Vizio GV42L LCD TV

remove all the screws and start at the bottom and push in the tabs, and work around the edges, being careful not to pry too hard, the cover has clips all around the tv. after the bottom is free and one of the corners the cover will kind of pop off if you use the palm of your hand and lightly tap as you apply sum upward pressure.

Haier 37" LCD TV...need a power supply

Find a differant web site because this one is run by a bunch of money grubbing technicians that really don't have a good solution but would love to charge you to take a look at it.
After you pay to have your tv shipped to them only to hear them say that it will be $700 to fix it or you can pay to have it shipped back still in its junk state most people probly say keep it and they then fix it for $25 and sell it to another ******!
