It could be that the springs have become lazy (stretched) and not supporting the spinning weight as good as they once did or as happened to me one of the shock absorbers at the base of the unit has come adrift from its securing point. Replacement parts are easily available but you will need someone strong to fit them with all that new tension.
Needs new bearings our does the same

I had the same problem. The sound became worse and worse until it eventually gave up the ghost. I had it fixed (out of extended warranty by a few months unfortunately) only to have it start again a month or so later. The guy I had fix it said that many front loaders have this problem because of the heaviness of the loads. I've just bought a new machine (one of the water-saving top loaders).
The washing machine makes a loud noise and vibrates so much at the beginning of the spin cycle that it wanders around the room. Presumably the damper units have worn and as these look like friction dampers I wonder if there are some “new improved” replacement units available that use viscous damping?
Taking the machine appart I found teh drum spider had corroded and cracked. Prior to the banging and jumping we were getting a lot of problems with the machine not emptying and bits of corroded material in the filter. This was causing the machine to not spin out during its cycle
