I am working on an LG front load washer model number WM1812CW. It will go all the way through a cycle one time. The next time it will stop between the wash and rinse cycle with an error code of OE. According to the manual, the drain line is clogged. Checked the drain line and there are no clogs. Any ideas?

Hi jerryleigers,

The Drain pump is working intermittently. It is either overheating or a loose wire is present or it could even just be a faulty drain pump. I'd suggest removing it (Found attached to the lower sump hose), testing it by aplying direct power to the 2 pins (either way is fine, it works on an alternating current), run it for 5 to 10 min (turning it on and off every 30 seconds), if it is fine then it is a worst case scenario (PCB). If it is not running well, or it is not even starting - replace it, problem solved.

Hope it helps :-)

My 7 year old LG Front Load Washer Model # WM1812CW displayed ERROR CODE LE(Overload in motor): how can I fix this problem ? The rinse cycle begins, shortly thereafter, the machine stops and the LE code...

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

LE error in your LG front load washer is displayed when either the motor is not working or the control board thinks that the motor is locked up. A Hall Effect sensor is used in these washers which monitors the speed and direction of the motor and then forwards this information to the control board. Hope you understand by now that this LE error is displayed when there is an issue with the motor or when the Hall Effect sensor sends wrong signal to the control. Conclusion is you'll have to check both motor and hall sensor and replace the part# that is bad, usually I have seen the sensor going bad. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

I have a LG front loading direct drive washing machine (WM1812CW) that is 5 years old that is making a loud knocking noise during the spin cycle and is emitting a burnt smell after the cycle ends. ...

It seems you need to have a new sealing rubber fitted. IN THE MEANTIME, if the knocking happens again when the spin starts, stop the machine, let the washing drop to rest, and then start it again, the re-positioning of the fabric inside the drum should even out. Also, do not load with say.. only towels, that way the weight is one sided and will make the drum spin in an uneven way.

My LG TROMM model # WM1812CW has a burning rubber smell when it's on the last high speed cycle. Can you help me locate the problem?

I just ran into this same situation. The problem was that the basket has been rubbing against the tub/door gasket. In this specific case it finally wore through the tub and was a hole through it. It si looking to be approx a $600 repair.

LG WM1812CW washer smell

First, clean out the filter behind the access door on the lower left front of the machine. Residue left in the filter can contribute to odor issues. Second, buy a package of AhFresh or Whilaway and run a cycle with that, hot water, longest cycle. (unfortunately you do not have the sanitary cycle or the tub clean cycle on your model) Third, and most importantly, USE LESS DETERGENT. Top load washers use up to 45 gallons of water per cycle. Your machine uses 12. Use one tablespoon of HE detergent and one teaspoon of fabric softener (if you use softener) per cycle. My personal LG washer is now over 5 years old, and have only had an odor issue one time. I leave the door closed after I wash. (the tub is vented) Never have had any mold or mildew issues with my washer. Was doing several loads per day when I had 7 at home, now only doing 3 loads a week with all the kids, their spouses, and grandkid gone. Still no odor problems. Great machines if used properly. Note: the odor / mold / mildew issues are basically the same with any front load machine, regardless of brand, and most can be solved following the above advise. Good luck.

Lg WM1812cw makes alot of noise when in spin cycles.

There are always bearings. This model uses a direct drive brushless DC motor so there are no belts and such. Without actually hearing the noise with no load, it's hard to say what may actually be wrong. Any time a motor makes an abnormal noise, you can expect it won't last too much longer. I have the same model so now I'm worried.
