We do not have the original remote, it was broken last year. We replaced it with a Phillips Universal remote which has worked fine until recently. The tv was in video mode when the batteries were knocked out. We cannot reprogram the tv code because it is stuck in the video mode. Is there any way to get the tv out of the video mode from the back or somewhere else? Thank you for your time

It shouldn't make any difference what mode the TV is in when programming the remote control. After you replace the batteries, just reprogram the control with whatever code you used before. If you didn't make a note of the code, use the remote's code search feature. That only needs the TV to be on, so that it shuts off when you find the right code. Once the remote has the right code back in it, you'll be able to switch the TV out of video mode.

Lost a tv remote in a fire. Bought a universal remote but cannot fine a code to program it.

read the directions at the part where it says manually program, you have to do certian functions then push the channel up and down until tv responds then its programmed, this is actually finding the code as you go, instructions will explain it all because ech universal is just a little diff in its manual process.

Remote does not work for TV

I assume you had new batteries in the original remote and that the Universal remote was programmed correctly for your TV.

Are there any lights on the old remote that flash when you press a button? If so, does it light?

If the TV doesn't respond to a remote, and the remote is verified to be in working order, then the infrared sensor in the TV is defective amd needs replaced.

Good Luck,

Sylvvania 27" tv will not respond to universal remote....

it seems that there is problem with the remote receiver circuit of your tv since your remote is working alright with the other tv. inspect for possible cold solder on that circuit or failing component, but if you are not inlined with kind of job, better bring it to a qualified tv technician. good luck!
