Please help! I just moved into a new house where the Frigidaire dishwasher worked great for 2 weeks. Now, it's leaving hard salt-like granules all over my dishes and not rinsing all the food off. Everything seems to be working fine, but the top spinning arm seems like it isn't spinning as fast as it should be, nor is it spinning very often. I set it on Heavy wash and it doesn't even spin until after the light wash. I've tried adding Jet-Dry and checked the drains to make sure nothing was clogged, but no luck.

Your dishwasher has clogged water ports.
Start the dishwasher with NO dishes in it.
Once it starts the wash cycle, open the door and pour in 1 quart of WHITE vinegar and resume the wash cycle.
That should clear out the residue.
Change your dishwasher soap to the FINISH brand name for happy clean dishes.

Your water is "hard". You must use a water softening agent with your new washer. You can install a whole house system or you can use a product that adds directly to the machine ...

New Frigidaire dishwasher installed week ago. All of the dishes, glasses, silverware have a white grimy film on them. Our tap water is clean and rated superiour by the state. We have tried every setting...

You need to adjust the water softener setting on the machine.
THe machine takes dishwasher salt and needs to be set to the hardness level in your area (water company will tell you the value) or some machines come with a test strip to test.

We have a new dishwasher, and we have a heavy white film on glassware and plastic glasses in the upper tray after use. What is the cause and what is the solution?

Its sounds as though your water harness is very high.
You have to add salt into the salt dispenser and set the machine for the "hardness" value in your area.
Your water company can tell you how hard the water is.
With the correct setting on the machine it will release salt to soften the water.
The salt you need is not cooking salt but one for a dishwasher available from supermarket.

The dishwasher has three arms in it. The top and bottom arm do not rotate. The middle arm rotates fine. The arms will move when manually munipulated but do not spill while the dishwasher is on. There was a...

sounds like maybe some rinsing salt was spilled when the salt reservoir was filled the first time (or broken glass, this always used to be an issue in catering) and got pumped through, lodging in the gap between the arm and it's mounting. this can roughen the two meeting faces of plastic and cause them to jam up.
remove the arms and examine the state of the plastic, also look for granules/particles of glass. if it was salt it will be long gone...

We have hard water at our home, but the new dishwasher leaves a thick film on the glasses. We use the rinse agent, but it's awful.

You have to buy a cartridge type water softener and attach it to the
inlet water line of your dish washer. In addition to this there must be
a salt compartment in the dish washer.
Refer the user guide /owners manual and locate. Fill it with the special
dish washer salt. ( Do not use kitchen salt used for food).
The dish washer salt may help to certain extent in softening the wash
tub water inside. Check the switch settings for rinse aid and salt
release settings in the machine. Refer manual!

Dishwasher not cleaning properly

Hi,

If I got the issue correct your dishwasher has stopped cleaning properly.

As advised by an Frigidaire engineer that there is not enough salt in the dishwasher & that is what causes the sand like residue on dishes. sometimes even when you use an all in 1 dishwasher tablet this may still not contain enough salt for the hardness of the water in your area. Using salt regular helps keep the dishwasher clean.

I am sure this would help you:

God Bless.

Dishwasher not cleaning

The dishwasher salt response is acceptable for Europeans, but U.S. dishwashers do not have a salt dispenser, nor is dishwasher salt sold in U.S. stores. U.S. consumers should descale their dishwasher using Dishwasher Magic, Lemi-Clean, Lime-A-Way, CLR, or vinegar until scale is removed from the machine, then add a rinse aid to the dispenser, which should prevent future problems. For very hard water, regular, periodic descaling treatments should be done. For the vinegar cleaning, place a full cup (8 oz) of vinegar in the top rack of the dishwasher. This way the vinegar is release throughout the wash cycles, performing a more thorough cleaning.
