Hi I have the olympus stylus and used it underwater once, and now the lens will not stay open.It sounds like it is trying, opens for half a second and then shuts again! I have had this less than a month, any thoughts?

I have the same problem. Have you come across a solution? It's definately my lens and not my battery. Where did you go to get the lens looked at and repaired?
I just posted this answer on an old Dec. 07 posting.
In case you can't find it, try opening the DC IN / USB port cover just to the right of the dial. This breaks the waterproof seal and allows the camera to open. I think the design flaw is an inadequate volume differential in the water sealed cavity to properly account for the change in volume caused by the lens opening / retracting. The USB cover can be closed once the lens is open to restore the waterproof characteristics.
The very delicate and fragile lens mechanism has been skewed by that knock.
Try Olympus for a repair price but I suspect you will be buying that new camera once you see the price
