You could try a CD lens cleaner and see if that makes a difference.

Windows does not include software to play movie DVDs.
You need to purchase software to perform this task.
I use Corel's WinDVD.

Is the philips dvd player dvp3982 ale to play blu=ray disks?

DVD players cannot play Blu-Ray discs. Most Blu-Ray players have DVD support, which means they can play DVDs as well as Blu-Ray. Unfortunately, the DVP3982 is not a DVD player, not a Blu-ray player, therefore it cannot support this format.

Hi i have a sharp hp22 i ham trying to play normal dvds on it ? is that possible

In general, Blu-ray player is compatible with DVDs. So you can play DVD on Sharp Blu-ray Player. However, some pretected DVD can be played on Blu-ray Player. As for How to remove region restriction on DVD for playing on any Blu-ray player, just follow below steps.
Step 1. Download and install Leawo DVD Ripper on your computer, and then kick off the program to enter the main interface. Import the DVD with copy protection on your computer by clicking Add Blu-ray/DVD. Once the protected DVD is selected, you will be provided three options to import DVD file(s): Full Movie, Main Movie and Custom Mode. Full Movie is to import all titles, and Main Movie only imports the longest title by default. And you are able to choose titles for importing under Custom Mode.

Step 2. In a drop-down box named "MP4 Video", you can click "Change" to enter the Profile panel to select the output format.

Step 3. Set a directory under "Save to" box. Finally, hit "Convert" button at the bottom to start the conversion process. During the conversion process, Leawo Blu-ray Ripper will automatically remove the disc copy protection and then begin the conversion in several minutes. With Leawo DVD Ripper, it will help do Blu-ray players play all region DVDs.

My samsung dvd player will not play dvds, but it

Are you trying to playing recordable DVDs (DVD+R or DVD-R) ? if so, try playing original DVDs (the type you rent or buy) those are pressed DVDs - if it works, then your player does not support DVD-R or DVD+R - If you are using a computer burner that supports bitsetting you can change the booktype of a DVD+R to DVD-ROM to fool your player.

If however your player cannot play either DVD-R, DVD+R nor original DVDs and only plays CDs, then your dvd laser diode is finished - there is one for CD and one for DVD, this is rare but happens, there is nothing you can do, any repairs would be very expensive - you are better off getting a new DVD player they are very inexpensive now and any repairs will cost you multiple times a new DVD player.

DVD Player structs after playing 10 minutes of video

the heat from the infra red laser heats up the disk to the point it is hot to touch at which point the read lens cannot read the laser reflection thru the heat noise. cool it down, keep a small fan blowing thru it or play shorter movies.

Dvd player frequently pauses or freezes while trying to play audio cd's

You tried cleaning the lens right?  That's the first thing I would do. You may have to actually open up the unit and use some windex on a cotton swap to clean the lens. Be very careful not to overwet the cotton swab. Use the other end of the swab to dry the lens.

The red wavelength of light from the laser might not be getting through the lens properly, which is used for the Audio CDs, where the higher frequency laser is used for the DVD material.
