I have a GE Profile refrigerator, Model PFSS6PKWBSS, with icemaker on door. Water is collecting under Deli-draw and leaking down freezer door onto floor. How do I fix leak?

    Hi Daniel,

I will look into the icemaker for the leak. Do I first have to disconnect or turn off the water going to the icemaker?

I was not able to work on the leak problem after your last reply. However, I did locate where the water was coming from. Behind the Deli-draw in the middle of the of the rear wall is a 4 x5 inch square where a cold air inlet is located. The water is leaking into the bottom of the Deli-draw area from the bottom right corner of this 4 x 5 inch square on the rear wall.

No other water can be seen running down the inside of the refrigerator.

    1. Could this water be coming from the ice dispenser?

    2. Is there any way to get behind the inside rear refrigerator wall or is my best bet to assume it is coming from the icemaker?

    3. If I remove the icemaker at the rear of the freezer compartment, is there a gasket or washer where the water inlet is located?

Please advise. I cannot work on the proble until next weekend. Right now the water leakage is slow enough that I can wipe it up every evening.

    Thanks,

    Richard

    Hi Daniel,

Two weeks ago you helped me with this problem. Due to other committments, I was not able to work on the leak problem until today. The solution you gave me did not work, although you charged me $16.00.

I removed the icemaker. Water enters into the icemaker from an inlet opening above the top rear of the icemaker. The icemaker has a large funnel shaped inlet just below the inlet supply. There is no way the leak occurs at this point.

In this refrigerator, the water filter is located in the upper rear corner and the icemaker is in the upper left corner. The water supply tube enters the rear of the refrigerator just behind the water filter. The water must go over to the icemaker from this point. The water is leaking from behind the inside wall and running down until it enters the bottom of the deli-draw.

How do I get behind the inside wall to find this leak?

Hi

Try and access the ice dispenser assembly and check from where the water is leaking. You would need to disassemble the ice dispenser and ice maker to check this. The ice dispenser is located in the upper portion of the freezer compartment. This assembly stores ice made by the icemaker and dispenses ice on demand from the door dispenser target switch.
1. Remove the upper ice bucket tray.
2. Slide out the ice dispenser assembly.
3. Remove the ice cube solenoid linkage Phillips head screw and slide the linkage back.
4. Remove the ice crusher cover Phillips head screws (2) and remove the cover.
5. With a pair of pliers, twist off the backing plate tabs located on either side of the crusher.
6. With 2 small flat-blade screwdrivers, unlock the ice crusher locking tabs located at either side of the ice crusher.
7. Lift the ice crusher out of the bucket.
8. Remove the ice crusher back cover.
9. Remove the locking ring from the ice crusher auger.
10. Remove the plastic nut with a pair of pliers by turning it clockwise.
11. Remove the spacers and blades. The blades are numbered for reassembly.

Icemaker--
The icemaker is located in the upper rear of the freezer compartment and supplies ice to the dispenser tub.
1. Disconnect the icemaker cable connector.
2. Remove 1/4-in. icemaker mounting screws and slide out the icemaker.
This refrigerator is equipped with an Electronic Icemaker.

Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more information.

    Hi Richard,

This seems to be a leaking pipe near the ice maker or a frozen pipe near the ice maker assembly. To check this you would need to disassemble the ice maker assembly as well. Hope this helps you identify the cause of the leak. Here is the answer for your questions--

    1. Could this water be coming from the ice dispenser?

Daniel-- Yes this could be from Ice dispenser

    2. Is there any way to get behind the inside rear refrigerator wall or is my best bet to assume it is coming from the icemaker?

    Daniel--Need to disassemble to check

    3. If I remove the icemaker at the rear of the freezer compartment, is there a gasket or washer where the water inlet is located?

Daniel-- Check the pipe/water hose instead

    Thanks

    Daniel

I have been getting these refrigerators steady for the past two weeks with the same symptoms. Problem involves removal of food from the fresh food compartment for twelve hours and leave the doors open with the fridge unplugged as to defrost the ice behind the back center panel so you will be able to remove that panel that has Styrofoam behind it without breaking the panel or the foam. There is a drain behind that panel that needs to be cleaned so water will flow freely to a pan below the refrigerator during defrost. I'm here if you have questions, John T

Ice under the deli drawer

it could be that u have a leak.. sometimes this happens when to much water is delivered to the ice tray and it overflows a little leaking into fridge. if that is happening then u most likely have a problem with the water inlet valve at the back of fridge, u can buy the part on line at appliancepros.com. good luck

Freezer /fridge water/ice in fridge and or freezer

Usually due to CONDENSATION due to bad door seals or a plugged evaporator drain line? Can use a soft flexable tubing and very hot water to clean it out. Bad door seals usually need replacement, but u can use a blow dryer and something to pry it closer to the door wall while blowing hot air on to it. To create a seal, to test for bad door seals place a dollar bill in between the door and wall of fridge where it closes. Then slide out the dollar bill with door closed. It should offer some resistance and not be easy to pull out.
Most all fridges have a drain. Look inside your fridge for a "V" shaped channel with a small hole. This hole leads to a tube and a small pan which sits on top of your refrigerator's compressor. The defrost cycle causes water to run into the channel, down the tube, and then it generally evaporates with the heat of the hot condenser/compressor.
However, if that tube is clogged with food crumbs, particles , debris etc, you will have to clear it to get back to a normal mode of operation. A toothpick, pipecleaner, straw or a cotton bud can often do the trick.
Even a frost free freezer will still ice up at times in the areas away from the heated defrost area and the drain line can freeze. This icing causes the pipe work to the compressor to ice over or sweat and cause a puddle. Or if the drainage has frozen over, it will need to be de-iced. ( usually the line is under the freezer bottom plate covering. Towards the back of the unit) And there is another inside the fridge area also.
Give the freezer a good overnight defrost until it's totally clear of ice in addition to making sure the drain is clear to the pan at the back and then restart the freezer.

GE Profile leaking onto floor

Clean the drain pan and drain line in the back of the freezer section behind the cover underneath the evaporator coil. (hint: use turkey baster with hot water) Make sure water drains when you pour it in. If it doesn't - also clean drain tube on the back of the unit behind the cover. When done - put the tube exactly where it was.
Good luck! :)
