Hello jhborts , first off- double check your default display settings:
1. Click the Menu button in the top left corner (fourth icon on the right of the set).
2. Click on "Settings"
3. Click on "Sound and display".
4. Make sure the box next to "Orientation" is checked, that way the auto rotate feature is enabled.
If this fails to fix it, and you have a home replacement launcher enabled by default (like ADW or Go Launcher, etc), go to the preferences (in ADW/Go Launcher) and make sure that Auto-Rotate is in fact on by default. Auto rotate should not require a reboot to be instantly enabled, but if neither of the above seems to have an effect after employing the auto rotate feature from both the main settings page and the launcher preferences page- then reboot and recheck if it works after the power cycle is completed.
The "Low Memory" warning pertains to the 256mb of shared RAM on your R101, that also doubles for your installed apps memory. You have three options for this issue:
1. App switching: Downloading the apps online to your device lands them in a folder under your SD card labeled "Download" by default. Check it via Astro file manager (which comes with your reader I believe). Here, apps are safe to find even after you uninstall them. To uninstall an app, go to:
Menu>Settings>Applications>Manage Applications> then select the app(s) you want to temporarily uninstall, and click the uninstall button. To reinstall an app, use the Astro app that came with your device to locate an app or item. Click on Astro from your app tray, go to your "Download" folder under the SD card (or just click on the magnifying glass to search for specific apps). Click the app icon in the folder in question, and follow the prompts to re-install.
2. Link2SD: Click here for usage details. You will need to root your Reader, try the Z4Root software to root your device easily- here is a link to download the app!.
3. App2SD: Install Apps2SD, link to the APP2SD app here!. Again, you will need to root your Reader, and again I suggest Z4Root software to root your device easily- here's the app! ...again!.
Good luck!
