It also has the full instructions on loading them from a floppy disc. If you don't have a floppy drive you can burn to cd and use that and load as part of the operating system install.

You can't see any HDD's when trying to install because your BIOS system was set the IDE controller to an AHCI, you can set this to native IDE and windows XP setup will read a HDD's..
If you need set the IDE controller to AHCI you need Intel AHCI controller driver for your system, you can see it during installation process to press F6, you must use floppy diskette and put the driver onto it.
Another way to install AHCI driver is Integrate the driver into Windows Installation directory..See here for more details..

I have toshiba satellite L505-S5990 model.i have installed windows xp by changing the settings in Bios that is sata hard disk enabled as compatable mode from AHCI.if i change to AHCI i can't install...

If you would like to make use of the SATA controller's AHCI features, you should enable this BIOS feature. But please note that enabling this feature requires you to load the SATA controller driver during the Windows XP installation routine.
If you do not intend to use the AHCI features, it's recommended that you disable this BIOS feature. This allows you to use the native Windows XP driver. You won't need to load the SATA controller driver during the Windows XP installation routine.

I have a hp 6735s with win vista installed in it. i want to use win XP but it wont install in this computer system.what should i do?

Problem : When Windows XP was made there was no concept of SATA drives now ur drive is SATA and ur installation disc does not contain drivers for ur Hard disk thats why it is unable to find ur hard disk as it doesnt recognize it u need sata raid drivers on ur windows inst cd

Solution:

this specific model HP 6735 was shipped with vista OS and drivers now u are downgrading it to XP it depends on the installation disc if it is new one like SP3 included then u would have never faced this issue in ur case u should get a RAID driver from www.intel.com and then include them in ur copy of windows XP cd to load them at the startup of installation , so u need them in the first place to carry out installation, u have to do some job here download RAID DRIVERS from www.intel.com select ur board and chipset either it is 945 or 965 gm and then download nlite a software used to integrate these drivers to ur inst disk , u can also include SP3 thru this software in ur current win xp cd

http://www.nliteos.com/

just download sata drivers from intel and nlite from the link and install the software integrate these drivers and burn ur cd incl them and then install normally as u were installing them earlier now it will recognize ur drive simple for more info how to do check this out

Windows XP boots endless if SATA is set to AHCI

this is'nt so easy here an example solution:

Enabling SATA mode to AHCI after XP Install (applicable to most laptops, or systems) If you want to enable SATA mode as AHCI after installing Windows XP, then read on. It's a bit of a long read because of step-by-step instructions, but worth it.

I did this on on Acer Aspire 5315-2153, it seems like the basic strategy should work on other laptops or systems.

For whatever reason, you may have installed Windows XP on your new laptops with SATA Native Mode disabled in the BIOS. Once XP is installed, enabling it in the BIOS will result in a BSOD upon loading Windows because XP doesn't have the correct drivers.

I read that enabling SATA native mode will give you a slight performance inrease and slightly increased battery life, so it seems worthwhile to me smile.gif

Here's how I did it on a Acer Aspire 5315-2153 running Windows XP (32 Bit version):

- Download the Intel Matrix Storage Manager software from Intel (I think it's iata_enu.exe)or AHCI_Intel_v7.5.0.1017_XP.zip from Acer web site.

- Extract files from AHCI_Intel_v7.5.0.1017_XP.zip to e.g. C:\AHCI_Intel_v7_5_0_1017_XP files need: (you may delete the rest)

iaahci.cat
iaahci.inf
iastor.cat
iastor.inf
iastor.sys
TXTSSETUP.OEM

- Now go to Device Manager, under IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers you should

see: Intel 82801HEM/HBM SATA AHCI Storage Controller

- Right-Click on that and select Update Driver
- Say no to connecting to Windows Update to search, hit Next
- Select Install fro a list or specific location (Advanced), hit Next
- Select "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install", hit Next
- Select Have Disk
- Browse to C:\AHCI_Intel_v7_5_0_1017_XP and highlight the iastor.inf file, hit Open
- Select OK
- Now you should have a list of controllers, for the Acer 5315-2153 choose Intel 82801HEM/HBM SATA AHCI Storage Controller, hit Next
- You'll get warned that installing the device driver is not recommended, click Yes to continue installing
- Click Finish
- Click Yes to restart your computer

When your computer boots up, you need to hit F2 to enter the BIOS. Change SATA mode to AHCI, save changes and exit.

After you log into Windows, your computer will find the "new" hardware. Wait until you get the popup message to restart your computer, say Yes to restart one last time.

You may download also from Intel the RAID/AHCI Software - Intel® Matrix Storage Manager (iata70_enu.exe 5640KB) and install it in your system, it may fix in case you got the wrong Intel 82801 AHCI controller.

I give credit to Jamie Rybarczyk at HP Business Support Center forum for doing most of typing.

Xp professional installation on hp pavilion dv6700 cto notebook

The original Windows XP Installation CD, a freeware application named NLite and a blank CD.
we need the drivers for the SATA controller provided by the manufacturer.

When you start the Nlite application, you will be asked to provide the location for the Windows installation package. Insert the genuine Windows Installation CD into the CD drive and, inside the application, select the CD drive letter.
To insert the SATA drivers within the installation package, you need to have it saved on the HDD. Hence, when the warning window appears click OK and select the destination folder for the files to be saved. Make sure that the destination partition / HDD has enough space to store the contents of the installation CD.

Immediately after you have chosen the destination folder, the application will start copying the Windows installation files. When finished, it will display some version information regarding the newly copied Windows Installation Package.
Now, click next twice until you get to a screen where you get options sorted in 4 categories: Integrate, Remove, Setup, Create. We are interested in the integration procedure, therefore select the Drivers button and click next. From the next menu window, click Import and select multiple drive folder option from the drop down menu. This option permits you to browse to the location where the downloaded drivers are found.
Select the containing directory and click next. You will get a list with the available drivers (in case there are more than one) or simply one driver. Select it (them) and click next. Now the application will ask for the permission to start the integration procedure. Choose Yes and wait for the drivers to be inserted into the installation package.
With problematic driver being included in the installation package you can install Windows XP on your SATA HDD...but...the installation package is on the HDD. You need a bootable CD in order to start an installation. Don't worry, once the installation package has been adorned with additional user selected drivers it can be transformed into a bootable disk image and later burned on a CD. To encapsulate the installation into a ISO image use the same Nlite application.
Open it, make sure the HDD installation folder is selected and click next. Select "Last session" preset and click next again. Now from the options menu choose Bootable ISO and click next. In the following window, make sure that the mode is set to "Create Image" and click Make ISO. A destination folder is required where the resulting ISO image will be saved. Once the image saving process finished you have the freedom to burn it on a blank CD with whatever you favorite CD burner software may be.

The new CD will be the twin copy of the Windows Installation CD but with one difference, it includes the SATA driver
