Answer above is half correct. The paper tray default set to manual tray can generate this error, but also if your print job is set to print on non-standard media such as letterhead or envelope the printer will ask for the media to be inserted.

Please check your printer driver to see if the default tray is tray 2 or other than the manual feed tray and take the paper out of the manual tray.

SOURCE: trying to print but it ask me to load paper or form feed. also got a bypass tray message.

the problem is in the printer settings of the file you are printing, if it is set to print from bypass tray. You can load paper into the bypass tray and it will fix it. If you have a Multi Function Product (MFP) commercial grade with multiple paper sources, this message may come up again. How to fix? In the file/documents properties (word, excell. PDF,etc.) go to the File menu OF THAT document and change the "paper set up/page settiings/paer source" from bypass TO Automatic or Auto Paper. Re save the file/document and it will save your new paper source settings. If someone sends you a file, or you upgraded to a bigger machine, this message may come up and you will have to make these cahnges due to the fact that the document was created with smaller product printer/page settings. The default auto paper on business MFP's is set for a tray, not a bypass tray.

SOURCE: canon MX850 - paper feed

Look carefully because it is a cassette on the bottom of your canon mx850... so the solution is: or you fill that cassette or you switch your canon (it is a button for that) to take the paper from the top...

You must have a record. hp p1006 printer envelopes hang in print que. I have spent many hours with your staff and the problem hasn't been solved?

Envelpopes should be printed using the feed tray located in the front of the printer not through the paper cassette. Try this: Follow these steps to print on envelopes from a computer running Windows. NOTE: For specific details on formatting text for printing on envelopes, consult the help files in the word processing software. For best results, consider using a label for the return address.
  1. Click File , and then click Print . The Print dialog box opens.
  2. Depending on the software program, click Properties , Options , Printer Setup , or Preferences . The printer Properties dialog box opens.
  3. Click the Paper/Quality tab.
  4. Select Envelope as the paper type.
  5. From the Size drop-down list, select the applicable size. To create a custom size envelope, use the following steps:
    1. On the Paper/Quality tab, click Custom .
    2. Click in the Name text box, and then enter a name for the custom envelope size.
    3. Click in the Width text box, and then enter the width. NOTE: Make certain the size is in inches. Click the Use Millimeters/Use Inches button to toggle between using millimeters and inches to define the custom paper size.
    4. Click in the Height text box, and then enter the height.
    5. Click Save .
  6. Click Apply to save the settings.
  7. Click OK to print the envelopes. NOTE: An error message might display asking to load an envelope into the manual feed tray. This might occur even if the envelopes are loaded. Make sure the envelopes are loaded, and then click Continue . The product will continue printing from whichever input tray contains the envelopes.

Load Legal paper in Cassette 1.
If you want to print using only one piece of paper currently loaded in the Manual Feed Slot, click [Resolve Error].
If you want to feed paper from the cassettes, remove the loaded paper from the Manual Feed Slot.

Printer is saying manual feed insert paper. Will not print

To load paper or other media in the Manual Feed Slot (directly above the Paper Tray)

You can load envelopes and special print media one at a time into this slot. Use the manual feed slot to print or copy on labels, envelopes or thicker paper.

1. Slide the paper guides to fit the paper size.
2. Using both hands put one sheet of paper in the manual feed slot until you feel the front edge of the paper touch the paper feed roller. Let go of the paper when you feel the machine feed the paper in a short distance.

d92e310.jpg

Note: When you put paper in the manual feed slot, please remember the following:
■ The side to be printed on must be face up.
■ Put the leading edge (top of the paper) in first and push it gently into the slot.
■ Make sure that the paper is straight and in the proper position on the manual feed slot. If it is not, the paper may not be fed properly, resulting in a skewed printout or a paper jam.
■ Do not put more than one sheet or envelope in the manual feed slot at a time or you may cause the machine to jam.
■ You can remove smaller sizes of printed paper from the output paper tray more easily if you lift the scanner cover using both hands as shown in the illustration.

You can still use the machine when the scanner cover is raised. You can return the scanner cover to its home position by pushing it down with both hands.

If you would like to disable Manual Feed Mode, check that the manual feed mode is not selected in the printer driver.

My canon printer/copier does not feed paper in machine. makes all the sound but wont feed. help

1. Try cleaning the paper feed rollers

Instructions how to clean the paper feed rollers.
If the paper feed rollers become dirty, they may not be able to properly feed paper due to the feed roller's slippage.
If paper does not feed correctly, perform the following to clean the paper feed rollers:
  1. Open the Printers folder.

    - For Windows XP Home Edition : Click/Select 'Start,' 'Control Panel,' 'Printers and Other Hardware,' and 'Printers and Faxes.

    - For Windows XP Professional Edition : Click 'Start' and 'Printers and Faxes.'

    - For Windows Vista : Click 'Start,' 'Control Panel,' 'Hardware and Sound,' and 'Printers.'

    - For Windows 2000 : Click/Select 'Start,' and 'Settings,' then 'Printers.'
  2. Right-click the icon of the printer for paper feed roller cleaning, and select 'Properties' from the displayed list.
  3. Click the 'Maintenance' tab and click 'Roller Cleaning'.

Remove all sheets of paper from the rear tray, then click 'OK'.
  4. Confirm the message, and click 'OK'.
Note: Clicking 'OK' will activate the paper feed rollers 30 times. This activation will take about 90 seconds. Do not perform other operations until this operation has finished.
  5. Confirm the message, and click 'OK'.

After the continuous paper feeding operations in step 5 have finished, load three sheets of plain paper and click 'OK'.

  6. Confirm the message, and click 'OK'.

Note: “Feed roller cleaning is completed” message is displayed when the paper is fed and ejected.

    Click 'OK'.
Roller Cleaning is completed.

Lexmark won't print on Avery labels

The printer is expecting the label stock to be loaded into the manual feed tray, not the regular paper tray. If it does not sense anything in the manual feed tray it will not continue. If you are loading the stock in the tray, it may need to be pushed further into the try to trigger the sensor.

Out of Paper message?

Solution:- Complete the following steps in the order provided. Step one: Reset the product Without turning the product off, remove the power cord from the back of the product. Wait 30 seconds and then plug the power cord into the back of the product. If the product is not already on, use the On button to turn it on. Step two: Check the condition of the paper and reload it Replace any paper that is ripped, dusty, curled, wrinkled, or bent. Note :- Use only plain, white, unused paper in the product until the issue is resolved. Make sure that all the paper is the same size and type. Because only one type of paper can be used in the product at a time, paper types should never be mixed. Tap the stack of paper on a flat surface to align the edges. Make sure that the stack of paper to be loaded in the product is no smaller than 10 and no larger than 25 sheets of paper. Note:- Do not load too much paper in the product. Insert the stack of paper into the product and gently push the paper guides snugly against the paper. Make sure that the paper is completely inserted into the product and can be picked up by the paper rollers. Try printing again. If the issue is not resolved, try loading different brands of paper and different types of paper, one type at a time, into the product and then try printing again. If the issue persists, continue with the next step. Step three: Adjust the paper settings in the print driver The paper settings in the print driver must match the paper settings for at least one of the installed paper trays. Open a document in the program being used to print. Click File , click Print , and then click Properties . The product Properties dialog box appears. Click the Paper/Quality tab. Choose the appropriate paper size from the Size is drop-down menu. Choose the appropriate paper type from the Type is drop-down menu. Click OK and then click OK again to print the document.. If the issue is not resolved, continue with the next section. Note:- If the issue is resolved and it is necessary to print on another type of paper, load the new paper type into the product and then repeat steps 2 through 7 for the new paper. These changes do not change the default print settings. The print settings return to the default the next time the program is opened. Step four: If necessary, obtain the HP Paper Feed Cleaning Kit Locate the serial number on the product. If the third and fourth digits of the serial number are 56, 57, 58, 59, 5A, 5B, 5C, or 61 , then use one of the Contact HP links on this page to contact a support representative. If the product is still under warranty, the support representative will send a free HP Paper Feed Cleaning Kit (part number c9000-67901). If the product is no longer under warranty, this kit can be purchased from HP online. Click here for region/country ordering information. Figure 1: Serial number with third and fourth digit circled c00743072.jpg If the third and fourth digits of the serial number are not listed, the special cleaning kit is not necessary. Continue with the next step. Note:- The HP Paper Feed Cleaning Kit requires the product to be connected to a computer running Windows 2000 or XP with a USB connection. If the product is not already connected with a USB cable, connect it before using the HP Paper Feed Cleaning Kit.

Printing problems - i can only print manual feed...

the manual tray is the is the one above the tray,
1-either your tray is set incorrectly must be set to Letter/Plain
priority is tray 2 not tray 1
tray one is the by-pass / manual
since this printer does not have a screen on it everything is setup through the PC.
print a configuration page and you will see all the settings
