Trying to connect a Zebra 6M Plus 200 dpi printer to a laptop. Data driver won't install. It asks me for the port, and then I get an error message "Environment is not valid." Zebra website says this is due to this driver not being compatible with 64-bit system and suggests downloading new universal driver software. I downloaded the new software, but I still can't install the printer. My computer can't find the driver software. Suggestions?

SOURCE: Print Width Issue

the issue you are having is DPI related, when data is sent to the printer and rendered it is dot for dot, so a Z4M 203dpi printer has about 800dots on the printhead where your printer has about 1200dots on the printhead. so when your software prints to dot800 thinking it is the edge of the label it is infact at 60%. there sould be an option in the software to configure around this. if not the is an option in the printer to convert DPI setting ie 150>300 or 100>200 and so on. but i don't thing you can make a 300dpi print as 203dpi

best of luck

I think you will also need to change the settings in the menu. Hold the l/h arrow key when powering on to access the menu. then change to correct p/h.

I have seen that some label manufacturers have used inconsistent backing material on their label rolls. The opacity of the backing material was dramatically different in various sections of the roll. Because of this the label sensor cannot read the gap as well, and it spits out blank labels until it can detect the label gap again (or it issues the message "Paper out"...

There are 3 different DPI Printheads for Zebra printers if you print a label set up for a 200 DPI Printhead on a printer with a 300 DPI Printhead installed it will be about 66% of the size.

Hi i bought a Z4mplus.. I have a laptop that only has usb ports and have connected the zebra with a usb - serial converter... however the computer installs the printer driver but wont send any information...

Make sure the serial port parameters match between the printer and the usb-serial driver. The Zebra printer is usually set to 9600 baud, 7 data bits, Even parity and 1 stop bit. The serial driver is probably different. The mismatch will prevent communications.

Hope that helps !

Printer port configuration and Zebra trouble

When you connect a printer to your pc the operating system adds a virtual port. Your pc will typically have 3 physical usb ports but can have as many virtual ports as you have devices to connect to it.

1: Ensure that your printer has media loaded and is powered up and ready to print. Connect the USB cable. You should get a message on pc screen saying device (printer) found.

Open printer driver ( double click on the zebra printer icon - Start/control panel/printers & Faxes/) Click print test page. If it doesnt print you will see a printer icon with a red question mark.on your toolbar, double click on this. This will bring up a small window showing status of the print job, Click printer/properties/ports. Select the next free usb port and click apply. Drag the print status window so that you can see the message in the status window change from Error print to error Restarting. repeat trying each of your usb ports until printer works. start with the higheat usb with highest number and work your way down.

Sizing and Orientation problem on Zebra 140 Xill

As far as the size it sounds like it might not be using the right resolution these come in either 200 or 300 DPI. Make usre your DPI is set to the same as the printer. If the printer is 300 and the design shows 200 then it will print rather small on the label. Not sure about the other issue.

Only printing 1/2 a label

recalibrate the printer in the set up.
Don't just do a quick cal from the front panel.
Make sure your driver is the correct dpi zebra driver, either zebra or my preferred seagull scientific.
by .5 of the label, do you mean width or heigth.
If it is heigth, check to make sure you are set for top of print correctly. Also you will have to back feed for a label that short.

Barcodes

Not sure if this is 100% fixed but the teklynx had two zebra printers listed, one 200 dpi and another 203 dpi, when switched to 203 dpi the barcodes came back. The labels prompt for conversion to 203 dpi and aren't perfect but close enough to use.
