Your tv is a 2008 model, legacy 3d tv and requires a lot more than a current 3d HDTV does to view 3d. Today with a current 3d HDTV, Normally you only need a 3d source like a 3d Bluray movie and 3d glasses from Samsung and a HDMI cable connection from bluray player to HDTV. See below for your TV. You need a PC and IR emitter and Samsung 3d glasses plus user selected options on the tv.
Samsung 3-D Ready HDTV How do Samsung 3-D Ready HDTVs work?
Samsung 3-D Ready HDTVs are enabled by Digital Light Processing (DLP(R)) or Plasma Display Panel (PDP) engines that are capable of very fast refresh rates (120Hz). The inherent speed of these display technologies enables high quality stereoscopic 3-D by alternatively displaying left and right eye images. The display is synchronised with 3-D shutter glasses to provide the observer with a vivid perception of depth.
How do I connect my PC to a Samsung 3-D Ready HDTV?
The DVI output from the PC's graphics card must be connected to the TV's 3-D compatible HDMI port using a DVI-to-HDMI cable (or a HDMI cable plus a DVI to HDMI adaptor).
Alternatively, some newer graphics cards have a HDMI port instead of a DVI port. In this case, simply use a HDMI cable to connect the PC directly to the TV.
On all models, the 3-D compatible HDMI port is identified by the letters "DVI". (eg, "HDMI 3/DVI IN" or "HDMI 1/DVI IN")
What other equipment do I need to enjoy 3-D on my 3-D Ready HDTV?

  • Windows PC with DVI output
  • Compatible 3-D Shutter glasses and IR emitter with VESA compatible sync connector
How do I connect the IR emitter to the 3-D TV to support wireless 3-D shutter glasses?
The IR emitter should be connected to the "3D SYNC OUT" socket. The emitter should be placed on top of the TV with the LEDs facing towards the room. How do I turn the TV into 3-D mode?
Ensure that the TV source is set to "HDMI 3/DVI" (or "HDMI 1/DVI" for 720p models).
Plasma HDTVs Press the Tools button and select 3D Effect. Update from Off to Mode1.

Does my Sony kdl55w829b 55 inch HD 3D Smart tv have a built in 3D transmitter to use with the active 3D glasses ? If so how do you activate 3D viewing ?

This TV has the active 3D transmitter built in to it in some regions. It is included for the model sold in the U.K.

You need to register the Active 3D glasses before they will work with the TV. To register the glasses, turn on the TV and bring the glasses within .5m of the TV. Then press and hold the power button on the glasses for 2+ seconds (until the power button blinks alternating green and yellow). When the registration is successful, a message will show on the bottom of the TV and the green light will stay on for 3 seconds. This will need to be repeated if you use the Active 3D glasses with another TV and then use them again with this TV.

Now you need to activate the 3D feature on the TV. Press the 3D button on the remote or press the control bar on the Touchpad remote and slide the touch pad to the 3D icon and select it. Then choose your 3D option. You may also need to adjust the 3D display settings from the Home button. Press Home and select Settings. Then choose Display and then 3D.

The manual for the KDL-55W829B is available here: http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/product/KDL-55W829B . The Help Guide, http://download.sony-europe.com/pub/manuals/tvhc/14HE468112-EN-Print.pdf , has the information on using the 3D feature starting on page 56.

I hope this helps.

HOW DO I ENABLE 3D

Assuming you have a 3D TV, AND either a service offering 3D programming OR a 3D BluRay player AND a 3D BluRay disc, AND it is properly connected via a suitable HDMI cable and port, AND the required 3D glasses... you turn on 3D according to the specific instructions of your TV!

What kind of TV supports 3D?

You need to look for TV's labeled 3D ready feature a screen capable of displaying 3D content, and have the necessary emitter built-in. One important thing to keep in mind is that you'll need more than just a 3D TV to watch 3D at home - you'll also need pairs of 3D Glasses for anyone watching, as well as a 3D video source, like a 3D Blu-ray movie.

How do I view movies in 3D on the Mitsubishi WD-Y65?

WD-Y65 is NOT a 3D ready TV. You either have to change the TV to see the movie in 3D, or just watch it in 2D in you current TV.

I have the same TV as yours. Current I connect a desktop PC to the TV via DVI port, and I watch Avatar using colorcode 3D(Amber/Blue) with Stereoscopic Player from www.3dtv.at It might be a way for you to enjoy 3D without change the whole thing, but it's an entire different topic.

Just wondering if this tv is 3D ready? Or if I can get something to make it do 3D?

Hello,

Yes, the television is 3D ready, you do not need any software, device or operation from the television to get it to work 3D. Most of these recent televisions are 3D ready. All you need to do is just hook it up to either your antenna, cable, DVD player or any device you want to connect it to and start enjoying the lovely view from your television.

Take care and good luck

3D doesn"t work

You will need a 3D-capable or 3D Ready tv. The difference is the 3D-capable tv will require you to buy a piece of equipment called an emitter to connect to it. The 3D Ready tv already has an emitter. You will also need a 3D bluray player or Playstation 3, 3D glasses, and hdmi version 1.4 cables. You will need 3D glasses and 3D bluray Dvds. If you want to watch something besides bluray dvds you would have to subscribe to direct tv as they are now offering some 3D broadcasting.

Your convergence is off. You should have a convergence adjustment feature on the menu screen. Very easy to follow.
