Fender Acoustasonic Telecaster 3TSB Logo
Anonymous Posted on May 04, 2011

I recently had my fender acoustasonic telecaster checked out because the volume kept shorting out. It seems the volume pot was dirty or had a short. Took it to my local fender guitar and fender electronic tech and they fixed it. But now, it's doing the same thing and I haven't had it 3 weeks from the shop. I love this guitar and I want a permanent fix...

Spray contact cleaner into the back of the control and work it up and down many times quickly to clean it and go get your money back from the shop.

If the problem is actually the volume knob, then the guitar shop did not fix it and you should bring it back. There is a test you can do to see if the problem is your volume knob. With the guitar unplugged, you can turn the knob up to the max and down to the min a lot of time (like 50-100 times or more) plug it back in and see if the problem is a little bit better, if it is I would bring it back to the repair shop and demand they fix it properly.

The problem could be the cable you are using. Sometimes it can seem like it's a volume knob problem when really it's a cable issue. Jiggle the cable and connector while the guitar is plugged in to see if the sound cuts out at all or you get crackling.

i should have been more specific. it's the volume knob of the fishman aura imaging for the acoustic pickup. Also, just got new mogami cables...so damn.

Fishman prefix plus on Martin OMC 15E buzzing when volume knob is turned and random shorting out sounds through amp

You have to get the volume pot cleaned and lubricated. If not a quick replacement should do.

Guitar pickup wiring diagrams

That guitar features two single coil pickups when stock. If, however, you or someone else installed a 4 conductor humbucker in the neck and you want to access other tonal options, check out the Seymour Duncan web site- they have tons of easy to understand diagrams- you just need the soldering skills to make use of them!
Make your selections on this page and good luck!

Battery drains quickly - The jack acoustic side does not turn off when guitar cable is removed

It's possible that the socket loosened and rotated creating a short between two pins. Remove socket and inspect pins. Ensure pins are not touching - separate if necessary. Replace socket.

Why is my bass shorting out?

more than likely the connections from pickup or your volume pots are the problem. take cover plate off back and check connections. use a meter to check for continuity

Fender acoustasonic junior crackling loudly and electronic buzz when touch volume knobs

noise problem with fender jr accoustatics is the poor aluminum sheet ground design that wraps around the body of the amp. it happens to me all the time because i kept on moving/carrying/dropping the amp every time we do church service. i am thinking of using an aluminum cable to wrap around outside the body.

I have a Fender Acoustasonic DSP 30 (Two 8" speakers) and recently my effects on both the instrument and vocal channels have topped working at all. I heard a small woooosh and a light pop sound, so...

Wrong assumption ! Most likely an electrolytic capacitor blew up. If you open the unit it should be obvious... it MAY also have taken out another component(s) as well. They can make a mess so clean up any residue as it will cause corrosion. Use distilled (non-ionic) water to clean up the residue. The little cans sometimes blow off or spit at the top and spew white crud all over.
