If you are using a Windows OS to access the drive, you will be unable to read the filesystem on this drive, as Windows cannot read XFS file systems which Buffalo uses.

Try downloading/booting off of a Linux live cd (knoppix, ubuntu, etc), they are free for download from their respective websites, and should be able to read that XFS partition.

Need ip address for Buffalo LS-WXL Series S/N 65850124513392

To find the IP load the NAS Navigator from the Buffalo web site. It scans the whole network for Buffalo NAS and lists them all. Make sure the firewall is not blocking the software.

It is also available for MAC.

My ministation was doing the same, beeping and flashing green light after a light drop on the floor. Soo... I took my ministation usb drive out of the plastic enclosure and smacked it on the table a few times. Plugged it in and it spun back up!! Now my computer recognizes it and everythings working smooth! I assume something with the drive became jammed and the couple smacks loosened the drive head.. Anyway, if all else fails... beat it!

you might back up your data to another drive if possible

then format your buffalo drive then transfer it back

i have had similiar issues with xp and w7 using usb drives and have found that i have to designate certain usb drives to the computer running windows 7 and same running xp
if i try to use the one designated to windows 7 in my xp get this drive is not formatted do you want to format

sometimes the wires inside the cable will be damaged due to bending or stretching or placing heavy equipment upon the cable

just replace the cable of the hard disk, when you plugged the external disk drive you got that windows could recognize the USB device change the cable everything should work fine again,

check the USB leads that attach to the motherboard usually red-white-green-black make sure they are securely seated and have no dust build up on them dust will cause static and a lot of unforeseen problems

if this fails to fix the problem
you might have to install a usb 2 or 3 card they are cheap and easy to install you can buy these on Ebay very cheap
hope this helps

You must install it again so it obtains the new addresses from your new hardware configuration. You'll need your installation CD and can find instructions/downloads on the Buffalo site (support).
