I was downloading an update. It told me to delete old Webroot. Then there was an error in the download so it didn't finish loading. Now I have no Webroot. Have tried several times to do over. Does not work.

I want to uninstall webroot and start over. I'm unable to remove aei.exe and other files. How can I accomplish this?

You may need to reinstall it to fully uninstall it. The uninstall may not have worked.
Have you turned off your computer since uninstalling Webroot? (Fully turned off, not hibernation mode) That may get rid of the running file.
To finish the job after uninstalling, simply delete the directory from the C: drive. (You may have to turn off and restart the computer before it will allow you to delete the folder.) A lot of programs that download updates on a regular basis will leave the updates on your hard drive even after an uninstall.

I get this ERROR CODE 4365798SPSA. I cant scan or get updates to my webroot, how do i fix this?

This issue is typically caused by an incorrect permission set in the registry. In order to correct the issue, you will need to run a Microsoft utility that "tells" Windows that you actually do have Administrator access to the machine.

Click here to go to Microsoft's Support site to download the utility. Once you're at this page, click the Download button to begin the download. You will want to select Run when given the option. Once the utility has finished running, the DOS window will close and next you will want to restart your computer. Once the computer has restarted, you should now be able to re-install the software without further incident.

Webroot has not downloaded virus definitions since 8/27 Connection to program engine is lost. Should I delete Webroot & re-enter the Webroot disc??

Try going to the help screen in the program and there should be a spot that says update or repair. Do this first the program may just be out of date or in need of a self repair. Updates on virus systems should be run at least once a month.

Webroot problems

I just went through this this afternoon, I spent 8 hours removing and updating and loading McAfee and running it too.

Webroot is a bad program, it is hard to remove and some of the componets just cannot be removed unless you do a search for the file and then delete it....if you need a certain dll then the anti-virus should detect that and remove or quarantine it.

I would suggest that you remove Webroot, and install another anti-virus program...I swear by McAfee, it removed over 30 problems or quarantined them, it works and is well worth the money spent....If you have Comcast, it is FREE to download on all of your computers in your home....just part of the internet service.

PS...Uniblue registry booster is no good, and another one that is hard to remove...it has spyware too.

Webroot not opening

What you have there is a malicious software.

Here is what you can do. On another PC download the following tools onto a flash drive:

1) CCleaner - Download this from www.filehippo.com
2) Malwarebytes - Download this from www.malwarebytes.org

Install first the CCleaner then the Malwarebytes. Make sure to update malwarebytes. Run CCleaner first. Start Cleanup. Run Malwarebytes and do Standard Scan. Make sure to view all the found infections and delete or quarantine them all.

Restart the computer then update your spyweeper

I have a subsription with McAfee and I cannot download the software before having this webroot spy sweeper removed.I cannot find it on my computer and never had a subscription with this webroot spy...

first uninstall the webroot spy sweeper through the following steps.
1.click start
2.go to control pannel
3.open 'add or remove program'
4.a window will open wait for some time until the list is populated

5 i)in that list find webroot spy sweeper and click remove
go through the uninstall wizard and finish the uninstallation process

5 ii)if you didn't find webroot spy sweeper there then it can be a virus
You need to download a program called MalwareBytes because that searces your entire computer
, finds the virus and completely destroys it.

http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html

Click the green 'download now' button (don't worry - this is free) and once you've downloaded it, got the updates and done a system sweep which takes a long time but it's worth it, you should be fine. It also solves the desktop, wallpaper and screensaver hijack, too.

6. restart your computer

7.open mycomputer click search and do a search for webroot spy sweeper
delete all the files and folders regarding webroot spy sweeper

8.now download mcafee before installing mcafee uninstall MalwareBytes and restart your pc
because at a time only one antivirus software should be used

i think this solution will help you
if the problem is not fixed please inform i will suggest some other ways

Free upgrade

12/4/2007- Webroot experienced a brief system outage that may have caused some current Webroot Antivirus/Spy Sweeper users to receive a "keycode is valid but not in the database" error. To resolve this issue, please do a manual update of your software or wait for your program to do an automatic update check and the issue should be fixed.
