Sounds like airflow fan needs to be replaced. Most fridges use a small fan that blows air from the freezer to the refridge. If that fan fails you get working freezer and non cool fridge.

You may have Ice buildup in the freezer. You freezer has a fan in the bak that sends the cool air to the fridge. Your fridge dial determines how muh cold air comes from the freezer. Try defrosting the freezer. You may have to pull the back panel off of the inside of the freezer to get the ice thawed. The ice build up is likely causing the air to not get to the fridge. Hope it works.
Possible that the thermostat or the control unit is faulty as it fails to cut off the compressor.In some cases the frost or ice formation can reduce the connection or wire contact of the thermostat and so the function will not work. You need to remove the freezer rear covers to confirm if the wires are intact and also if the thermostat is working along with the auto defrost timer.

Yes, if you're not afraid of removing service panels and replacing parts, then this is something that you can probably replace without too much trouble. Very straightforward, just remove the fan motor assembly & screw a new back into it's place.
And yes, that sounds very probable if you've already tried defrosting the machine first.
