Distortion on vocal reproduction on Vocalist Live 2. Even with input volume down to minimum a loud vocal performance produces distortion on single voice and harmony output.

XLR inputs often have a pad (attenuator) that is switchable for signal level.

The amp or pre-amp for the vocals built into the unit is failing when it gets warm. This is a common problem with electronics, that when it cools down cures itself until it warms up again a few seconds later.
The units need repair or replacement.

Sounds like the mic you are using requires "Phantom Power." This means, you will likely have to purchase an external unit for this power (+48V) power to the unit. I use a Behringer Ultra-Voice Pro for mine. Works great!! You can find these on Ebay at a steal!

The only guitar amp that has 2 female jacks, one xlr and one 1/4" is a tall Acoustisonic anp by Fender . I have one and I use the Vocalist 3 and I still have an instrument jack for my acoustic guitar . hope this helps .

Set the voice input level on the voicelive2 by following this guide from the live 2 manual... Step 4: Set Mic Level This step informs VoiceLive 2 how loud you plan to sing with your particular mic. We'll use VoiceLive 2's automatic MIC GAIN feature to quickly set the optimum level. 1. Press and hold the REVERB footswitch 2. If you need to activate phantom power for your condenser mic, adjust the onscreen PHANTOM parameter which will restart the level test 2. Sing for five seconds with peaks that are as loud as you plan to sing 3. Follow the prompts in the display to finalize mic level setting, cancel or redo the procedure During performance, if you see the CLIP indicator light in the HOME screen, you can return to the automatic
MIC GAIN feature to adjust the input level.
When input level is set on the voice live ;
on the mixer set the gain control to 12 o'clock position and
individual channel volume level to 7 ....raise the master volume
slider to hear mic input at desired level and without feedback

NO power light or audio from Digitech Vocalist 2 live. Check that your power adapter is for 9 Volts AC (not DC like most pedals) and is rated at 1300ma or more. A DC adapter MAY light up the unit but not make it pass audio. Lights can be lit but that is NOT an indication thaat correct power is applied. They likely use the AC input to generate both positive and negative voltage within the unit. The use of a DC adapter will prevent generating one of these required voltages and prevent audio from passing.

Yeah I have an idea... It is likely static electric discharge. At this time of the year we get zapped touching metal things and it also drives electronics nuts... You don't even have to feel it to get zapped.

Try using in your bare feet and see if it fusses... We had a lady vocalist wearing those ugg boots and caused static pops in her microphone... anyway try the test and if it fixes the problem, then look up Staticide spray... You can get it at Amazon.com for example... spray floor in the area you are playing on to kill the static.

The only other thing is to check if wiggling the power input plug causes the problem. Those plugs are notorious for poor connections when they wear.

It sounds like the guitar level input to the unit is too low.

NOTE: With this product you MUST use an amplified or electric guitar that has a preamp within it.

If you have a straight guitar that does not have an amp in it, buy a preamp to first run the guitar through.

This MIGHT be typical digitizing noise that can occur with a digital effects processor when the signal level is too LOW. The signal gets down in the noise because it only uses a few bits of data which means LOW resolution in the effects processing.

Make sure your guitar is producing the level required by the vocalist.

Weak battery in amped guitar is common...REMEMBER always send the signal between devices at least at half the max volume to keep a decent signal-to-noise ratio.

ALWAYS use instrument grade cables between the devices and speaker cables for speakers... NEVER use the incorrect ones for either of these functions. They should be labelled.

Hi there. Use the "pan" pots to assign the guitar to left channel and all other pans to right channel. Also, turn all effects off or down all the way. (Effects return all the way down.
