Unit 11 laser polygon motor failure

I am in Alaska and can not get the machine to a repair person at a reasonable cost.
I am getting a message that reads "unit 11 laser polygon motor failure" then it scrolls through the following messages Print cartridge 4 is missing, Print cartridge 3 is missing, Print cartridge 2 is missing, Print cartridge 1 is missing
Is it possible to buy a new "laser polygon motor" and replace that part of the machine myself. It costs an unreal amount to ship the machine down south
Thank you - Renee

Most likely, all the problems you are experiencing are being caused by a bad laser motor assembly. We can send you a motor assembly for the laser unit and you can change it out yourself, however, we will have to charge for the entire unit since it makes one laser unit worthless. You would save on shipping that way. Aligning the lasers is a little tricky, but doable. The manual can be downloaded at: www.lpscomputer.com/ec/Phaser_7700_Service_Manual.pdf
The parts can be ordered at: http://www.lpscomputer.com/p-3060-1-116-1110-00-laser-unit.aspx

SHARP AR-M236 CALL SERVICE CODE L6-10

Hello I found this for your error code.

Code

L6-10

Description

Polygon motor lock trouble
The polygon motor does not rotate. The motor lock signal is detected for 6sec or more after the polygon motor rotates. The motor lock signal is detected for 1sec during rotation of the polygon motor.

Causes

Polygon motor unit failure Polygon motor connection, harness trouble or disconnection MCU PWB failure

I would unplug the unit for a minute and let it cool, then restart it and see if it was a temporary glitch or if the polygon motor has ceased to funtion. You might try to see if the wiring harness has come loose, otherwise you are looking for a new polygon motor.
Here is a copy of the service manual. It also suggests running a SIM 61-1.

I found a replacement motor for the machine, to give you an idea what it will cost to replace, keep in mind if you don't have the ability to replace this yourself you will have to call a repair tech to come in and do it and you may expect the cost for that to be at least the same as the motor.

Hopefully it isn't a motor failure. Good luck.

Xerox 7700. Paper is jamming at lower tray and bypass tray. Will print one page fine but multiple pages it stars jamming

Hello. The Error 11, polygon motor failure is usually caused by the motor controller chip going bad on the mirror motor. We found some of the contorller chips and had them replaced. The refurbished laser units can be seen at: http://www.lpscomputer.com/p-3060-1-116-1110-00-laser-unit.aspx

Polygon moter failer ?

The polygon motor failure is referring to the Laser Unit (part# - 116-1110-00). This issue somewhat common on the Xerox 7700. Unfortunately the laser unit must be replaced and is pretty expensive (around $1000) Replacing it isn't too hard though, just remove the right side cover and unscrew the two screws on the laser unit and unplug the two cables from the laser to the engine control board. If you do decide to repair the machine iteminc.com has the part online.

It is a Sharp al 1000 with error message L6 which means Polygon mirror motor not up to speed? How is this fixed and what cost?

Since the polygon motor is part of the laser unit, it would cost about $200 plus labor to replace it

I have a phaser 7700dn and the error code 44 has come up fuser sub lamp failure

THIS IS THE TEXT FROM THE PHASER 7700 SERVICE MANUAL, HOWEVER, SEE MY COMMENTS AT THE END OF THE QUOTE.

11 06-372 ERROR 11 LASER UNIT POLYGON MOTOR FAILURE
Note
If this failure reoccurs three times successively, an Engine NVRAM
value is set preventing further printer use until the Clear Tech Rep
Fault, Clear <09-380 ~ 09-383> is run.
Remove Rear Cover (RRP 1, on page 7-154).
Disconnect P400 (see figure page 2-46) and P401 (see figure page 2-46) on the Engine Control
Board.
Inspect both connectors to determine they are fully engaged as a unit. Re-engage, if necessary.
Note The two connectors can NOT properly seat into their socket(s)
unless they are both engaged as a unit. Ensure there is no
separation.
Carefully reinsert the plugs into their joint socket and FIRMLY seat them.
Replace the Laser Unit (RRP 38, on page 7-200).
Note Whenever the mounting screws for the Laser Unit have been
loosened, it is necessary to recalibrate the unit by performing the
RegiCon Adjustment Procedure beginning on page 4-124.
If the problem persists, replace the Engine Control Board (RRP 42, on page 7-206).

It has been my experience that 90% of the time the scanner motor (polygon motor) has gone bad. I have repaired many 7700 printers with this error by replacing the laser scanner. The part can be purchased at: http://www.lpscomputer.com/p-3060-1-116-1110-00-laser-unit.aspx

Laser unit polygon motor failure

This error usually means that the laser unit on the machine has failed. Just replace the laser unit part number 116-1110-00. I've bought couple of them from www.iteminconline.com. They also give good customer service for free and I think 30 day return if the part is not working. hopefully this helps

Code 11 on display. "Laser unit cannot find a home position." Does the laser need to be replaced? How much would this cost?

Yes the laser has to be replace.
If you have checked that all the connections from the laser to the engine control board.
If it all of a sudden gave the code 11 then that means you have to replace it.

That laser comes at a price of $500 to $700. refurbished.
