Upgraded ram 1gb wont boot hp 510 mobo 30C4

If you added another 512Mb RAM to increase the RAM to 1Gb then the new 512Mb memory stick could be incompatible with the original 512Mb or it could be faulty.
Use RAM that is same make and speed as the original RAM.
Remove both RAM and just insert the new 512Mb into your laptop and see if the laptop boots up, if not then the RAM could be faulty.

Types of sdram

PC66 SDRAM
PC66 SDRAM is the original module speed of SDRAM. PC66 SDRAM was the earliest version of SDRAM and therefore came in a number of smaller megabyte sizes than later versions. Most early motherboards were rated for PC66 SDRAM. The available sizes are 32MB (megabytes), 64MB and 128MB.
PC100 SDRAM

PC100 SDRAM was released after PC66 SDRAM and runs at a higher speed. It has the same number of pins as the earlier memory module and is capable of utilizing the same RAM slot. The only difference when installing this SDRAM in compatible computers with older systems (PC66 slots) is that the SDRAM will run at a slower speed. PC100 RAM comes in sizes such as 32MB, 64MB, 128MB, 256MB and 512MB.
PC133 SDRAM

The last generation of SDRAM is PC133. The PC133 memory provided a speed upgrade and comes in larger sizes than previous generations of SDRAM. PC133 modules are backward compatible with older SDRAM slots. The PC133 memory, however, will be forced to run at the slot's slower bus speed (PC66 or PC100). The memory comes in sizes like 128MB, 256MB, 512MB and 1024MB.

Hi there
Your t1090 will only accept a maximum chip size of 256Mb and so it will not accept the added the 512mb chip as it cannot handle it. 512 is the maximum size of RAM for this machine but unfortunately you cant put it in in one go

Consider updating your motherboard bios.

Also make sure that your memory is correct for this system:

- Max. capacity of system memory: 2GB DDR or 2GB SDRAM
- DDR x 2, DDR266/200 non-ECC, un-buffered memory
- SDRAM x 2, PC133/100 non-ECC, un-buffered memory

According to Hp website your computer will handle two 512 Mb RAM chips. Make sure they are PC133. If computer will not boot with both inserted properly, one of them is bad. Put one in slot 1 and none in slot 2 and see if it boots. Then switch the chips put the extra chip in slot 1 and none in slot 2. See if it boots. This way you can troubleshoot a possible bad chip.
